    Ex-gay camps

A minor boy from another forum I frequent is being sent to one of these against his will. Its a modern day concentration camp legally supported by Christians, Christians, and more Christians.

All I know is, this kid's gonna end up committing suicide. Its disgusting that his parents want to kill him for being gay. There's no sugarcoating the fact that they don't see anything wrong with making him want to commit suicide. If I had human emotions anymore, I'd be crying for the world.

Sweetheart, not all Christians are that way. I am Christian, and I will keep that boy in my prayers that he survives the ordeal. Will you tell him that for me? PM me his name, and my bell choir will keep him in our weekly prayer as well.

I feel bad honestly for Christians who preach tolerance for all people because these @$$es are making them look bad. Not all Christians are horible intolerant jerks but thats the image people see.

I pray for those people, as I know they will be judged as they judge others.

Again not all Christians are like that and don't even think they are, my parents don't like gay people but they would never want anything bad to happen to them because we are not on this earth to judge other people. I don't think anything more or less of them, I don't agree with some of the things SOME gay people are doing either but I don't hate them, I have some gay friends.. okay like 3 lol, I act just as I do with them as my other friends. I think it's crazy that boys parents are forcing him not to be gay, that's his choice and hope everything will turn out okay for him and he'll find in his heart what he really needs to be in life.

Why can they not accept their own son the way he is? Gays are HUMAN BEINGS too! They have feelings too! Live and let live and accept people as they are! Geez... Those parents need a reality check! (Right upside their heads! BHAM!!!!)

That is so sick. Agree with karen on the Christian part. How can his parents or anyone keeping him in that camp call themselves Christians? What kind of mother would denounce her own child and emotionally abuse him? Where is the love? And I thought we had some narrow minded people out here---nothing like this. If one of my children or anyone else for that matter confided to me that they were gay, I sure wouldn't be bashing them. My kids would have deserved my love and support, not a lockup.

I agree with the others, not all Christians are that way. I am a Christian and one of my best friends is gay. He is the coolest person I know and I love him to pieces . It's sad that basically his parents would rather have a dead son then a gay one. My parents are Christians and they always told me and my brothers that although they would be disappointed in us they would still love us just the same if we were gay. I hate it that there are "Christians" out there that are like that and make people think all Christians are that way.

Thomas? Me, here, Columbine. The one wearing a pentacle. Hi! Yeah, it's been - well, anyway, another brother of our brother is in hot water. Not that I'm not sure you spotted it, but just wanted to give a shout out from all the way over here. Could you sort things out a little, maybe just put in a req for something like a good night's sleep when he needs one, or a clever friend who knows how to communicate subtly and has a reassuring presence, or even some abductee's rich relative charging in in a cloud of lawyer-dust... Whatever will relegate that bushel basket to apple-picking and help buddy recognize and forgive ignorance is fine, of course. I'm not one for centering my power outside myself, but that's just my personality. I still consider you my friend, and I suspect our brother thinks the same of me, however much noise is jamming the signal these days.

Love, Columbine (another sort of Twin)

*sigh* I hate that and I hate that even some parents would be disappointed in their children for being what they are. My mom made it very clear to me when I came out(and even before I came out) that she loved me no matter what, she was always proud of me for being a good person, and that I should never care what other people think of me. I wish I could talk to that boy, I would hate to see him commit suicide because of his parents. People should be able to live as they are.

    OMG, that is sooooooooo sad!

I find it especially sickening that these people are doing this to children who actually have NO choice. It's already been proven that being gay is genetic.

Please add my hugs, prayers, and condolences to this boy's list of well wishes. May he have the strength to make it through this. Hopefully he can find a new family that will love him for who he is on the inside. (In the mean time, maybe it would be best just for him to pretend for a few weeks so he can get out of that HORRIBLE place quicker. I know that's harder said than done.)

Please, if your dog is arthritic look into getting it Elk Velvet Antler. Look up my posts on it, PM me, or look it up on a search engine; but please if you love your dog and want it to live many more years consider this option. I've seen so many posts on here about dogs needlessly suffering. I can't make a new post about EVA every time so this plea is going here. EVA also helps with other ailments such as anemia.

thats an old article "June 21, 2005" I wonder how the lad turned out.

The article did make me sick. How on earth can anyone support that kind of BS!! That poor lad. While in High School I learned to hate my religion. I saw what they were doing/saying & I saw how wrong it was. I do not hate catholics, but I will not support the "religion" or any religion at that. I feel they are too much like a cult tellin gyou what to do & how to act. I apporve of morals, but telling me that because someone is different I should hate or change them is insane. If people want to live a cult life, so be it, its "your choice", but its not for me. If I'm able to have kids & they take on a religion, I might not be the happiest parent, but I wouldn't hate my child, or force them to change... I'll stop rambling, but some people just make me so sick!

Yes, the article is old, and I haven't looked into how the boy from the article is doing. However, the boy I'm referring to is going in October 2007.

How old is he? Is he at least 16?

If he is please please please post to his blog and tell him to run away and get help. The life he is currently in is nothing short of abuse. He can get into some sort of shelter. (if you know what city he's in you can try and look up some youth shelters.)

If he's not 16 isn't there someone he can turn to? I suppose if his parents are this extreme that he'd be in a school that hold the same beliefs so going to a teacher or counselor probably isn't an option.

From his posts, it sounded to me like they pulled him from school for the time being. I'm sure it must have been a religious school.

Homosexuality is no more a choice than musical talent, long legs or blue eyes.

The closed-minded ignorance of some people never ceases to amaze me.
