    TAKING FOOD FROM STRANGERS

I was curious, Daisy will not take any kind of food from strangers. We were in Petsmart and the girl at the register gave her a dog biscuit and she spit it out. Then she gave it to her again and she did the same thing.
I was somewhat embarrassed, but on the other hand glad she just doesn't take food from anyone. My question is " Is she just using her instincts", "Is it because she is used to us feeding her" , "Is it because we didn't socialize her properly" ( which we made a big mistake in not socializing her when she was a puppy) My husband says it's the wildness in her.

    jackiesdaisy,

Sheba will not take food from strangers either. Rocky and Pepper will take food from anybody.
The only thing I can think of,
is maybe it's because she is
    apprehsive/or cautious of strangers?
To tell you the truth, I do not
    mind the way Sheba is.
If someone was to try to poison her,
    she would not eat it.

I feel pretty secure the same way about her not taking food from anyone, If she don't take any food from strangers at least there would be no chance of her getting poisened.

King doesn't have too much of an aversion of taking food from strangers. He will give them a weird look though. most people try giving him biscuts, which he doesn't like. they'll ask if they can give him a treat. we say yeah, sure, but he usually won't eat biscuts. he'll eat them if you insist, but you can tell he rather not. as long as it is something good he'll eat it.

one day i was doing dishes, and i got some soapy water in his water dish and had forgottton about it. well, later on he went to get a drink, smelled the water and looked over at me. i was like what! he circled next to his dish and i remembered. so at least i know he knows better than to drink bad water. (and it had only been a little bit of the dish water.) (what scares me is he used to refuse to drink the well water up at my fiance's parents' house, and he is now drinking it. (and it has a harsh smell to the human nose.)

Please, if your dog is arthritic look into getting it Elk Velvet Antler. Look up my posts on it, PM me, or look it up on a search engine; but please if you love your dog and want it to live many more years consider this option. I've seen so many posts on here about dogs needlessly suffering. I can't make a new post about EVA every time so this plea is going here. EVA also helps with other ailments such as anemia.

Too funny! So would Hans and Fritz. Rocky, who passed away in May, would never take food from strangers, only me.
