Tuscan needs a different foster home

As much as I love Tuscan, he needs a different home. Pouncer was accepting him very well, until last night when Tuscan cornered him. Pouncer freaked out and this morning he peed on a blanket (I know it was him because everyone else was downstairs eating, he was in the room and the pee was still warm)

Sigh. Now I feel AWFUL because I tried to introduce Tuscan to my guys and I ended up making Pouncer sick. Shame on me

My priority is to care for my animals first and if Pouncer's not taking it well, Tuscan needs to leave.

Unfortunately, not all new additions to the family work out. As much as I love Specs, I should have rehomed him when trouble between him and Boo first began. Poor Boo Bear, once alpha male, is 16 now and Specs, approximately 7, still aggravates him. It isn't as bad as it was when he first was introduced. Specs terrorized Boo and since he was an outdoor cat all along, I tossed him outside once because he beat up Boo so badly. But he came to every window of the house, hung on the screens, cried and cried until I relented. Now he just follows Boo, they don't fight any more. They even sleep together now but I think Boo just tolerates that and prefers to be left alone. Specs can be a little punk, pure and simple, but he can also be very sweet. I put Boo through hell and I shouldn't have, all because I felt that once I took a cat in, it should stay. If you feel there's any chance that your two can get used to each other and work it out, then maybe you can wait it out. If not, start working on finding Tuscan a home now because it's only going to get more difficult to part w/him, even as upset as he's making everyone. I'm sure he'll make someone a great companion but he may need to be in a one cat household. Don't punish yourself for this and especially don't punish yourself by keeping him if you know in your gut that it just won't work. Been there and I'm w/ya.
    Blessings,
    Mary

Don't feel badly, Kim, it's not your fault, or Tuscan's, and he's such a love-kitty that I'm sure he'll find a new placement quickly.

Difficult as it is, you have your priorities right for fostering. Keep your pets safe, and keep your sanity. My first foster dogs were only here 48 hours as they would NOT tolerate cats. It was a chaotic 48 hours and they just had to get a new foster home. That left me free to help someone else, and the 2 foster dogs I have now fit in quite well.

Oh Kim, I'm sorry you are going to have to give Tuscan to another foster home, but it is true when you say that your own cats are your first priority.

Good luck Tuscan on finding the right home for you.

Thats a shame that Tuscan has to be rehomed. Weare praying that a Solo Home can be found for him where he can be Cat Of The Castle or maybe a home with a spayed lonley Lady Cat.
We are praying hard for Tuscan.

Tuscan needs a different foster home

Often the right decisions are the most difficult to make. Please don't feel that you failed Tuscan. Each kitty has his or her own personality, sometimes thigs work out and sometimes not. You made the right choice under the circumstances.

I don't feel as if I failed Tuscan..... I feel as if failed Pouncer.

This was a trial run for something that will be happening in the near future: my Sister in law is moving in with her two cats sometime this winter. She keeps pushing back the date because her lawyer and soon-to-be-ex's lawyer can't come to an agreement with the divorce. If he can't handle one new kitty, whats he gonna do with two new kitties plus a new hooman?

I'm sorry to hear this but you have to do what's best for Pouncer and your other cats. When I had Cirrus, this made Storm miserable and stressed out for 2 years and it also made him sick. I'll never do this again.
I'm sure that with Tuscan's sweet personality that he'll have no problems finding another home.

Now for the 2 other cats that will be coming into your home, I really don't know what to tell you except for good luck. Hopefully they'll both be very laid back.

You've got all the photographic evidence you need to make it clear what a darling he is! He's an exceptional cat - it shouldn't be hard to find a good home for him.

Kim - Pouncer will get over this, he has come through much worse...just a lot of hugs and assurances that he is YOUR boy, and I am sure it will help.

And Tuscan will have a wonderful furrever home, thanks to you! He was a starving and sick kitty...now he is friendly and brave (TOO brave) again.

You didn't know this would happen...not your fault. Pouncer will be himself again soon.

I think Tuscan will be able to find a new home very fast. If I went to look at him and he instantly started cuddling me like a love-kitty I wouldn't be able to resist.

Tuscan is just really happy that you gave him a home when he needed it most and fed him til his tummy was full

Please give Pouncer lots of hugs and loves from me. Poor guy. If I were closer I'd love to take Tuscan, not sure he'd get along with my Sasha dog though. You have done nothing wrong. Some kitties, just like some people, just can't get along. Tuscan, you're a special boy, I'm sure you will find a good home quickly.
