    Locks of Love

Did anyone ever donate their hair to Locks of Love? If you don't know what it is, Locks of Love is a charity that cuts 12 inches of your hair off and makes it into a wig for kids and adults who have cancer.

I am going to daonate my hair except it needs to grow longer. Its not 12 inches yet but maybe in a couple months.
Thank you so much for my siggy, kittycats_delight!

I plan on donating mine when it gets longer. It's pretty long right now but I am going to let it grow more though because I want to have some hair left after they cut it..

I have not, because I don't let my hair grow that long. Also, my hair is too "mind-of-its-own in nature to blend with anyone else's, and they need many people's hair to make a wig. I also know that human-hair wigs are far heavier than acrylic ones, so I wouldn't wish one on anyone, but at least the charity's heart is in the right place.

No, but I tried. I found out that you can't donate dyed hair.

I haven't, but my sister has a couple times. I'm pretty sure you only need 10 inches, not 12. My sister donated 14 inches the first time and I believe 10 inches the second time.

You CAN donate dyed hair, as long as it is in good condition. Bleached hair cannot be donated because it damages the hair too much.

Well I've done it twice now and donated about 12 inches both times. Even though the second time wasn't all 12 I had it layered so some where a wee bit short, but my hairs so thick it really didn't matter. I don't dye my hair or use irons, blow dryers, and things of that nature inless I have to, because of the weather.
