    Eye boogers

    Driving me crazy!

Jack's eyes started producing this bright green eye discharge last Saturday. It was only one eye up until yesterday and now he has boogery eyes all the time. He's acting otherwise normal, eating, playing, drinking, etc...

Should we just wait it out or take him in for some antibiotics or something?

The few times I've seen green coming out of a dog it has been an infection.
Since it's getting worse I'd take him in and get antibiotics.

Is he itching at his eyes at all?

Maggie gets the ordinary eye buggers and it drives me crazy wipeing
them off. Green stuff doesn't sound good at all. Did you pull back the
skin around the eye & check the eyeball for inflamation? I'd sure keep an
eye on him & take him to the Vets if he gets worse.

No itching, no other symptoms at all...which is weird. I mentioned in Chipper's thread about Jack picking at his food, but ever since his eyes have been gooey he has been eating normally again. I think I'll call the vet tomorrow morning since I don't have to work and see if they'd like to see him. Thanks guys.

green/yellow boogies = infection. Bunny and Zeke both got those twice.. in the last two months or so. We got drops the first time from the vet, boogies went away. Then they came back and more drops.. Gone now.

The drops we got are... "Neo-poly-Dex" by Butler AHS... 9.50 at our vet for 5mL.

Bunny: BoxerxSheppard mix, Eli: Boxer, Treo: Boxer
Zeke [RB]: RottweilerxAustrailian Cattle Dog mix

I know you already said you're going to the vet. I would suggest that first.

Here's a little story though and advice if it doesn't clear up...

King had gotten an eye infection and we tried treating it with something from the vet's. It didn't go away so we got something else. It still didn't go away and spread to the other eye. Something clicked in my head. I decided to try plain ol tap water. (Our is chlorinated. That's the key point to this.) With in about three days both his eyes were totally cleared up. He hated these new drops and i know it stung... but it worked! (I continued with the drops for a little over a week. He had the infection for well over a month and i didn't want it coming back.)

Please, if your dog is arthritic look into getting it Elk Velvet Antler. Look up my posts on it, PM me, or look it up on a search engine; but please if you love your dog and want it to live many more years consider this option. I've seen so many posts on here about dogs needlessly suffering. I can't make a new post about EVA every time so this plea is going here. EVA also helps with other ailments such as anemia.

Just wondering how your boy Jack is. I hope it was nothing serious but I too have always heard that green is infection.

I had to laugh when I read your title...I didn't know anyone else called the stuff in their eyes boogers but me

    I call em "eye goo-gies"
Star has gotten icky ones before, I think she got an infection from small flies in the summer. the vet gave us drops which cleared it up. She got a mild infection the next summer, I just kept wiped her eye with warm water on a washcloth several times a day, and that time it cleared up on it's own in a couple days. If it's spreding, I would get drops from the vet. Poor Jackie boy, hope he's better soon.

Take Jack to the vet to get some drops. After the drops, the eye boogies should start to clear away.

How is Jack doing? Is he feeling better?

    Sorry for not updating!!

I called and ended up getting him some drops. They are no longer bright green, more of a brownish color now...so they're helping I suppose! Thanks for your replies, guys!
