    Dog peeing on bed

A little different than the peeing on the couch post, so here it is. Our 5 1/2 year old Bichon has started this thing of randomly peeing on the bed. She did this maybe twice in her first 5 years, which I didn't really consider a problem. She's always been very good about going outside and waking us up to go out at night.

We bought a new bed about a year ago and at the time I was worried that she might pee on it since it was new. So, I wasted $100 on one of those guaranteed not to let the pee through mattress pads (these things don't work and the warrantee is for squat). Anyway, she was fine for nearly 6 months and then one day we found that she decided to pee on the bed. This began a series of random 'accidents'. It's not frequent, but enough to cause concern and it does nothing to help my new Sterns & Foster.

During her recent checkup we told the vet of this behavior and they decided to check her for infection and kidney and bladder function. All normal and she is a very healthy dog.

We just can't seem to pin down the cause of the behavior. Nothing has changed except the bed, but if that was the cause I would have expected her to pee on it from the start. The only thing I have noticed in recent months is she tends to be more depressed looking at times. I'm not sure why, as her environment hasn't changed and she snaps right out of it when she gets interested in something.

We take her for walks regularly, she loves riding in the car and we take her everytime we can. She's a Home Depot freak and will kill to get a chance to go there (she's been evicted twice and still continues to infiltrate the store... can't quite figure out how she does this). So, we're wondering and wishing we can come up with an answer to the peeing problem.

Can't tell you why she did it but close the bedroom door so she doesn't have access to the bed. My housebroken chihuahua one day for apparently no reason pooped on my Mom's bed, couple of days later she did it again. I closed off the bedroom for a few weeks, it's been months now since the incident and the bedroom door is once again open and so far so good.

Well this sounds familiar to me. My Husky...now almost 7 years old has peed on my bed. The first time it happened, I think it was because he was sleeping really hard because it was just a big puddle (old bed). Happened again about a year ago in a rental house we'd been in for a year (new bed, sterns and foster as well). Recently he peed on our bed about 6 months after moving into our new house. It's brand new so no dog has peed in there. But he peed on there, then I washed the comforter and he peed on it again...this time I could see the trail so he was standing when he did it. We usually let him rome but now we shut he door. At night he sleeps at the foot of the bed. The best part is that I woke up one morning and noticed he had got on top of my love seat. I don't know why, it's never happened before. He must have done it in the middle of the night. Anyway now he's shut in the bedroom with us at night. I have no idea what is going on with him. He was given a clean bill of health at his checkup but no urinalysis has been done yet. Have you figured yours out yet? Anyone know why this would be going on?

Is your dog doing this while sleeping or relaxing? Sometimes they can have weak bladder muscles (incontinence) and there is medication for that. Also possibly seek a second opinion from another vet?

I hope this resolves very soon for you! No one likes to find pee anywhere in the house, especially on the bed!
