    Problem Solver

I have a cat that refuses to aim down in the litter box. I put a new litter box in the fireplace and always had to clean the cement when she sprayed over the back of the litter box.

    Solution:

Now I can pull the tote box out and wash it easily. No more odorous cement.

The tote is a Duratote 21.5 gal., costs under $5.

I have a female that would spray over the top of her box. My solution was to take a container, like the one you pictured, and cut the front out of it. It works really well too.

Great idea!! I've been having this same issue so I'm going to try this. Thank you!
Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) is a full management plan in which stray and feral cats already living outdoors in cities, towns, and rural areas are humanely trapped, then evaluated, vaccinated, and sterilized by veterinarians. Kittens and tame cats are adopted into good homes. Healthy adult cats too wild to be adopted are returned to their familiar habitat under the lifelong care of volunteers

    Hey Pawla,
You beat me to it...I was going to say the same thing..
My Russian Blue, Daiquiri would sometimes spray the wall behind his
litter box, so I got a bigger and deeper storage box, cut out a little of the front and no more spray on the wall...
I guess it's true...'we have to sometimes think outside the box' ;->

I've heard of people decorating their unused fireplaces before, but this one takes the cake, Mary! LOL!!! Great idea for a problem kitty! You certainly don't need your fireplace, right now, do you? I was in Columbia, yesterday, and it was 97 degrees!

I haven't used the fireplace for several years, just because I'm too lazy to clean it out after a fire. But it is super hot right now.

I was going to use a cardboard box, but I figured it would smell eventually. This I can wash. And if my "fosters" (supposedly fosters?) ever leave, I can still use the tote. The litter box was initially put there so Mac could use it during the day. He is the only cat allowed out of the cat room when I'm not home. Of course, he prefers to go outside throught the doggy door. The other cats have free run of the house at night when the doggy door is closed. They have taken it over.

    Who has non-cat loving guests?!

They're not allowed in my house.
