My brother and his wife live just outside of Dallas, TX and recently bought a new house with a pond out back. They have two dogs, Bart - a blue tick coonhound, and his son Kasey - a coonhound beagle mix. Kasey hates the water and won't go in the pond but Bart used to swim years ago just seems to have forgotten how. He loves the pond, barking at the catfish and turtles but when I was down visiting two months ago he would only wade up to his shoulders and then come back out.
My brother called me last night to tell me Bart finally remembered he could swim and now he won't stay out of the pond. He says he jumps in, swim across, gets up on the bank, barks 3-4 times and then jumps back in and swim across. He says he does it over and over for hours non stop. They have to make him come in to rest. Bart turns 11 years old today but he acts like a pup.
