Anyone try this for their cats?

It's called "Calm Down" and I saw it at Petsmart.

    http://www.petsmart.com/global/produ...294966001&Ne=2

It's right at $10 for the bottle so I bought one... I haven't opened it, wanted to get ya'lls ideas first. But since I am 40 minutes away from the nearest Petsmart, wanted to have it if ya'll said it is worth it.

I wonder if this would help Scooter & Charlie get along better, or just make them not care?

One of the reviewers actually squirts it into their pets mouth - another mixes it with food. I think you're supposed to put it in their water bowl. But I think for my boys, the food would be easiest if it would work.

    Thanks for any advice,
    Crystal

    What is the "active ingredient"?

    active ingredients per teaspoon:

    Ilex aqui, flos. (3C) 1.25ml
    impatiens glan, flos. (3C) 1.25ml
    Helianthemum num, flos. (3C) 1.25ml
    Ornithogalum, flos. (3C) 1.25ml

I see where it says the inactive ingredients are 13% alcohol. So I probably won't use this! May drink it myself... but probably won't ever give to the kitties. (Kidding - it says for animal use only!)

You could PM Craftlady about this - she knows a lot about these types of ingredients, I think.

Thanks - I may do that.

I just hate to give them something that hasn't been "tested" by people I trust. And, I trust PT'ers.

    Thanks again!

If you look at the "Trouble in Paradise" thread, several people talk about Clomicalm in the last few posts. Jenn has used it with great results.

Those are all plant extracts. What plant, I have no clue. Any botanists familiar with Latin names for plants around?

My vet suggested I get it for Pouncer. She recommends squirting it because it has a subtle flavor and if they smell of taste it in their food or water, they'll just refuse to eat or drink.

A little secret: Petsmart will take anything back. Receipt or no receipt. Use it. If it doesn't work, return it when you go that way again.

I saw that the other day when I was in there and wondered about it so post if you try is as to the results. I am going to ask my vet about this Clomicalm and give that a try if he has it and will let me have it for mine.

Yes, those are herbal ingredients to help keep kitty calm. Most of us have gone that route and even tried other medications such as valium, buspar and amitryptilene. The last one worked for me for a while, thanx to Jen's suggestion, but only for a while. And my Specs became very fearful while on it, so I stopped it. When my vet told me about Clomicalm, it was one happy day in this household. You might try the herbal solution first and, if it works, great. But, if not, Clomicalm has been a godsend to me.
    Blessings,
    Mary

The alcohol volume won't hurt them? 13% seems high to me.

I am so afraid to give things to my boys without someone else trying it first. Scooter is almost 12 (this september 21) and has been so healthy all his life, I'm afraid to be the cause of any illness.

I will give this a couple more days, see if anyone else replies... then decide if I'm going to try it.

Thanks for all the help and advice. I'm such an over-protective meowmie!

LOL! I don't blame you for being a overprotective Mommie! That is why I didn't get that stuff at PetSmart the other day... I had read the ingredients list and saw the alcohol content and wonderfed if that would hurt them.
