HAPPY BIRTHDAY, KATIE!


Today is my special girl's 4th birthday and she is indeed a very special girl. She doesn't do lots of tricks. She isn't much for playing fetch. She doesn't have the best social skills when it comes to playing with other dogs (although my grandpup, Sammi has learned to put her in her place...lol). She isn't even a well built akita. None of that matters to me. She is special because she is MINE and she is just happy to be with me. I got Katie a few months after I was diagnosed with cancer and she kept me company and was by my side while I recovered from 2 surgeries and 5 1/2 weeks of radiation treatments and now today as I am going through another difficult period in my life she is by my side. I don't have to pretend with her. She doesn't get mad at me or hold grudges against me. She doesn't care about what I look like or about what stupid thing I might say or do. She doesn't even complain that I am not here most of the day. She is not upset with me because I forgot about her birthday today just like I forgot about Tori's in January . She doesn't demand a lot of attention. She is content to lay at my feet or sometimes lean against me with her head in my lap. She is always excited when I come home in the evenings and gives me lots of woo's and big fluffy tailwags. SHE IS JUST HAPPY TO BE WITH ME. That is why she is my very special girl.
