Yappy dog as humans' territory marker

The spoiled little princess upstairs, for whose sake (according to the landlord) I mustn't listen to music above a whisper, and who considers it her mission in life to put the "uppity townie downstairs" in her place, has adopted a very shrill yappy little dog. And there's not a thing I can do.

Luckily, my cat totally believed me when I told him I'd keep him safe, that no dee oh gee would ever hurt him.

But it's going to be a while before I can sleep without taking medicine. I hate having to take medicine. And worse, I hate having to take medicine because somebody is using an innocent animal as a weapon to see if she can get a rise out of me and slap me down because, after all, I have a pet, so why can't she.

I'll get to where it's just more background city noise, wean myself off the medicine, and eventually get to where I can write it off as "her problem, not mine." But right now I'm quite enjoying fantasizing about snapping her lily-white little hyperentitled neck, and dognapping the yapster out to some nice home in the country where it can terrorize rabbits to its heart's delight.

Meanwhile, Little Weapon will just have to endure whatever frustration he/she engenders among his/her human wielders. Because there's not a bark barkity bark thing I can do.

Love, Columbine (come ON, you medicine, kick in already!)

You can't make a noise complaint? Surely your cat does not keep her up with her meowing lol.

R.I.P my dear Sweet Teddy. You will be missed forever. We love you.

I don't know about where you live, but where I live there is an ordianace about how long an animal can make noise and what hours. If it's in the middle of the night or if it's for an hour or more we can call the police.

You might want to check into your area's noise or animal regulations.

    Good Luck

Thanks! I'll definitely do that, after keeping a detailed log for a few days.

Well you could stump them and ask them if they intended on being sanctimonious trogolidytes, or did it just come from the inbreeding?

I gotta get outta this "good neighborhood" for sure! Anybody up Vermont way need a med-head Macingeek what don't get up early (or at least don't do her best before noon)?

Love, Columbine (suddenly struck by how attached she's gotten to the silly place and its holdout working-class inhabitants, especially the grapevines)

My house is connected to my boarding kennel ... it's far from quiet some nights.

Get a good pair of foam earplugs, and run a big box fan in your bedroom for background noise.

It works through any amount of barking, trust me!

Go out to the park, scoop up all the dog poop you can find, and then deposit it all over the stairs leading to her room.
Then complain about the smell coming from upstairs....lol

Well, it's blissfully quiet up there this morning. I'm hoping against hope that the critter belonged to a visitor... I do have earplugs, and run a box fan all summer anyway. I'm sure more comfortable earplugs can be found, too. I'm just getting too old for "bend over and take it" to be the only workable option every stinkin' time. ("Workable" means eschewing puerile revenge schemes, and I'm too old for even fantasizing about those to be entertaining anyway!) So here's hoping it was just some friend of theirs who didn't want to leave such a young puppy alone while they were visiting.

We can hope!! I am glad to hear of the quiet for you though.
I once lived next door to a woman that had 9 yorkies...............she kept odd hours so it wasn't uncommon for her to take them out at 2 or 3 am I would console myself by trying to remember they were happy barks.......

Now I am the neighbor people love to hate lmao! 3 macaws, 1 cockatoo, the assorted tiels, lory and keets along with the dogs. Maybe thats why the houses on both sides are up for sale?

It's not like you have to use the word "troglodyte" every day! I usually find it easier to spell "knuckledragger."

No yappage yet this evening - I'm guessing the little loud one was a guest...

Love, Columbine (hard to type with my fingers crossed)
