Angel and her LOVE for plants

Okay. It all began when Angel found out about plants. My grandpa bought my grandma some flowers. They would sit on the table. Well, every single day more and more flowers would disappear. Soon I found out that Angel would eat the flowers. She still does it now. We have to put the plants on high surfaces so Angel can't get up to them.

Is there anyway I could stop Angel from eating the plants??? I really don't want her finding a way to get to some plants that may be poisonous to her.

    Please help!
    Thank you!
Thank you so much for my siggy, kittycats_delight!

This is normal cat behaviour, imho. I found that "baby's breath" is especially attractive to cats as a snack. Having a cat is like having a toddler around the house. You have to cat-proof things. Trying to train a cat to not eat flowers is a pointless exercise, imo. They make a spray that you can spray on things to supposidly make them out-of-bounds to cats, but it never worked for me.

With 7 cats, I only have artificial flowers. Can't take the risk with house plants, flowers, etc. I DO keep a few cacti, small non-flowering types. When she was a kitten, Sparkle had to taste one! Aside from a squeal of shock, fortunately she was not harmed and she never tried that again. I find things like spider plants and ferns are the most chewy, they are like grass, cats love it!

Oh, and Crystal routinely takes the artifical flowers out of the vase and strews them about the table. I guess I don't decorate to her satisfaction, so I have to keep trying.

To give them the greens they desire, I often put Barley Cat on their food. It is a green powder you sprinkle on the kibble. You can find it if you google "barley cat."

But that doesn't stop them eating plants. It just satisfies them, like a treat.

IMO, having a cat means you do NOT have flowers or plants in the house.

All my flowers are outside in the garden!

I do give mine 'cat grass' either from the pet store, or plant my own with 'cat grass' seeds. The cats LOVE it, and it seems to make them happy.

It's the same here. I haven't been able to have plants (real or artificial) since having cats.

Cocoa Kitty loves to snack on grass so much i have a flowerpot in the porch with grass for nibbling. I think it's healthy for him, and this way he leaves the less tastier plants alone.

I have lots of green plants, and luckily, they don't appeal much to Fister.
But you could try to put some catgrass next to the flowers, and Angel would probably leave the flowers.

That's the rule in our house, no plants. Bruce got me flowers for Valentines Day and put them on a stool on top of the dining room table so Taz couldn't get to them. But later I moved them and he jumped on the shelf and ate some! Sneaky little guy!
I also buy wheat grass at the grocery store for him to eat.

Well, I have some plants, and the girls will chew on them periodically... but I keep thinking that "maybe they won't like this one" and I buy it! NOT! I do have some that they don't touch, so I guess I am lucky.

I once had a spider plant that I put up on a shelf. I left for a little vacation, and when I came home, the pot was still there, but the plant was GONE!

I plant grass for the girls, and they love it, but still love my other plants as well. I just try to keep the plants up high where the kitties cannot get to them. And they stare longingly at them, and meow! silly girls!
