What sort of mixture do you think goes into making an Archie?

    How to Make an Archie

    Start with some Airdale
Add a good cup or more of intelligence
Stir in some jet black for eyes and nose
    A pint of curiousity
A quart of cute tippy ears
    Two cups of alertness
    A dash of happpy face
    A pinch of smilies
and just a tad of waggly tail

    Mix well!

Surely Airedale, maybe mostly Airdale. How tall is he?

I'd say mostly Airedale also, maybe a touch of some kind of hound?

that's my Archie - apart from the intelligence bit

Karen we do think he is mainly Airedale but he is a bit smaller than the average - wondered what he could possibly have been mixed with

About 18 inches at the shoulder - we are thinking about Welsh Terrier too

He's quite small for an Airedale. Maybe Lakeland, Welsh, Irish or Jagdterrier? He's fine-boned like an Irish Terrier, and they're about 18 at the shoulder, but he's definitely colored like a Welsh or Jagdterrier.

He looks like an Airedale/Jack Russell Terrier to me...or maybe some Lakeland.

Okay - now that I know his height, very possibly Irish or Lakeland mixed with Airedale would be my guess!

If you think about it, what are the possibilities of these breeds coming together? (unless it's like that sick-o breeder) It would most likely be a mix of more common dogs that were either strays or one mixed and one pure or both mixed. People tend to think that their dog is a mix of some rare or uncommon breeds, but the likelihood is improbable. This happened at work today as well. Someone brought in a dog that they got at the humane society. They thought they had a miniature manchester terrier, but it was fairly obvious that it was a min pin/chihuahua mix. I've seen lots of stray min pins and lots of stray chihuahuas, but I've never seen a stray mini manchester. Know what I mean?

That's true, but this person lives in the UK where terriers of all sorts seem to be quite abundant..
