It's been three years since my dog Joker passed away. I'm not sure what breed he was. He died of heartworms and didn't show any signs until the day before he died. I noticed he was shaking all over before I went to school and I told dad about it. They took him to the vet that day because he started throwing up blood and he had bloody diarrhea. The vet put him on pedialyte because he was getting dehydrated but he was losing too much blood much too fast. He died January 8th at 7:00 A.M. Since then we are SO careful about putting all our dogs on heartworm medicine and having them checked for heartworms because it is so devestating watching him die like that and knowing that we could have prevented it.
Joker was a very happy dog. He was the only dog that I have ever known that had a favorite color. It was yellow. He would steal anything it it was yellow. We had a bowl full of yellow and orange suckers on our table once and he took out all of the yellow ones and we found them scattered around the house. He had an underbite which made him look like he was always happy and smiling (which he was) and that's why we named him Joker. Even though he was only with us for a year he brightened up our lives and changed them so much.
You will be missed forever Joker. R.I.P
On his grave, yellow roses are growing...and we didn't plant them there.
