Spayed on Tues. Still under the wheather

I have a question about Paris after her spay??? She was spayed on Tuesday and she has had little to no activity sense. I think it is because she is healing but I am so protective of her. I took her into the vets office today to have them take a look at her incision because her belly looked distended. And the tech said that she was probley a little to active after her surgery and a fluid pocket may have built up around her sutures?? How long should I wait to see her a little more active???? She still isn't acting like my hyper little Paris. I can't wait till she gets back to her normal self.

That doesn't sound good at all!

I would get another opinion. The cat should have bounced back by now. Maybe she needs antibiotics for the infection. Or she needs to be looked at by another veterinarian. I would do something about it right away!

We have had her on Antibiotics since we have picked her up on Wed. morning She seems to be doing much better tonight. We have put her through a ton this weekend we had thanksgiving with our family at our house on Thrusday then yesterday I cleaned up all of the mess and then this morning when I talked to the vet tech we ran her into the place that she really hates. So I am watching her real close but I really think she is doing better. She even ate really good tonight. I think she may have been pouting a little...... She would'nt have been hurting so much if she would have slept instead of being naughty in her sleeping cage. (Which is my fault I spoil that little kitten soooooooooo bad) My husband said she is lost without me. Which is probley the reason why she was trying to dig her way out of her recovery cage. I will keep an eye on her tonight and tomarrow during the day. Hopefully she will still be good and a little more active. Thank you!!

I'm glad to hear that Paris is doing a little bit better. The antibiotics can also make cats not feel well and make them a little more lethargic than usual. Hopefully she'll improve each day. Get well soon Paris.

When Vita was spayed, 9 years ago, she slept for 4 days when she came home. She had no complications, no antibiotics, she just reacts that way to anesthesia.

I hope Paris feels better quickly.

The vet clinic....... When Paris was little we adopted her from the local humane society she was in one of the many foster homes that they use. A wonderful lady took excellent care of her. Anyway on the day of her adoption they wanted all of the kittens to come in for their shots and for microchipping well everything went really well for the kittens until they did Paris's chipping well......Needless to say the first microchipping didn't go well so they had to do a second chipping and it really didn't go well her little back was bleeding for up to four hours later. Well even though we have taken her to vet for shots and every other check up she starts shaking and this I know all stems from the scary incident that happened at the humane society. Plus to add to all of the drama this little girl went through she was adopted by us the same day and she lost her Momma and siblings. Still to this day she ONLY trusts me..... That is the reason why she starts shaking when she goes to the vet it brings her back to the same scary time in her life. She was scar"d for life. She is doing very well today even playing a little. Sorry to go into such a big story but that is why she doesn't like the vet. She remembers that day. Our vet just loves her. I have all the confidenct that it isn't why she is scar'd its the Humane Society that makes her scar'd. Her foster thinks the same way.
We are doing much better today.

Two of my three girls didn't respond well to their spaying. The only one who did was a laser spay, the other two were the normal incision kind. From what I gathered from the vet who did the laser spay, it's less invasive, and has a quicker healing time.

With the other two kitties, they both had a reaction to the stitches that were used. Both different vets, and different years they were done, so it wasn't a vet thing. The vet who helped me out with them (he was a parent of one of my students and also a vet), had me put warm compresses on their incisions a few times a day. It did seem to help, and they loved the sensation, I think it felt very comforting to them, and they got to be babied even more.

Hope this helps and that little Paris will be feeling better soon!

    Updated!!!!!!!!

Well we went to the vets office today the doctor told me that it had a ton to do with her overactivity post op. the swelling that I was seeing was from fluid like the the assistant said. Sometimes I get a little over reacted when it comes to my babies. She is getting back to her old self today. She woke me up for work this morning. She yelled.... and yelled..... and yelled.... until I fed her this morning and she even found time to pick on the big orange kitty Tucker this morning. It sure feels good to see my sweet little meezer back to her meezer self. Thank you everyone!!!
