Some sad news =(

Yesterday as usual I got up and looked at the fish and noticed them looking quite pale as in a pink colour and saw they didnt eat their food. I changed their water that night before and added the stresscoat as I would normally do and I came home from work yesterday and both of my red girls were gone I noticed that one of them was acting strange before yesterday but it was like she perks up then goes low again so I thought maybe it wasnt something to worry about, but the other one looked so healthy! I really dont see why its happened I really dont understand they were in the bigger tank with a divider and they had the filter and my other betta is alone in a smaller tank and hes doing fine, I just feel like crap I dont know if it was something I had done or if I couldnt of stopped it but I feel guilty for them dying so soon one of my friend is saying that you cant always tell if a fish is going to live once its brought home but I really cant see what I done wrong! Im not angry with them im angry at myself but I really didnt notice any major changed in them.

Don't feel too bad. Life is a learning process.
Did the tank have a filter or something? It may have been a nitrate spike or something similar...

I'm so sorry to hear that . But don't try to blame yourself. Just try to monitor them for a few days and see what happens. They're gonna be fine, sometimes fish tend to go weak if they've eaten too much. So just calm down give them a few days and see what happens. Though I really hope they'd be ok soon..

Aww, I'm sorry. RIP Little Betta Girls. How long ago did you get them? Maybe they were harboring something from the store. Unfortunately, with a tank with dividers, whatever one has can pass to the other.

I too killed my brother's betta after a regular water change. He was in a low current 5 gallon tank, I did a partial water change (left water out for a day plus added a little Stresscoat). I don't know what happened, maybe just the overall stress. Maybe something was wrong with the water that you couldn't forsee?

Was the temperature ok? My first betta passed from a cold snap overnight that I didn't know was coming (I live in FL, not something I worry about too much) and he was in a small tank. I woke up freezing and he had passed.

Chilli - they had a filter, it was always on the lowest to stop the water current moving too fast and they had one in the shop so I thought it was best to carry it on

areias - Ive had them for 2 weeks going on 3 now, The temperature seemed ok and it doesnt seem to change much at all, My house is always quite warm so I dont think it was a problem

Well how much of the water did you change? It could have been from ph shock.. Or the ammonia or nitrates could have been too high. Trying adding "ammolock". This removes the ammonia and nitratres but continue to use the Stresscoat as well..

Ammolock doesn't remove ammonia or nitrates. It detoxifies ammonia. Nitrates continue to build up with ammolock. If you cycle and stock properly you shouldn't have to use ammolock because the ammonia is converted as quickly as it appears.
