    Sharp Nails

Is there a proper way to cut toe nails? Whenever I cut my dog's nails they become very sharp and I was thinking that maybe I'm not clipping them properly.

Dogs nails do tend to be more sharp after you cut them, I think you could possible file them down but you will need to get advice from someone else about that, I only use the nail cutters.

Whenever you cut a dog's nails, they're going to be sharp. No matter what technique you may use. The only way to get them so that they aren't sharp is by using a dremel instead of a nail clipper, or by filing them afterwards.

Yep, what they said. I use a file to file down just the sharp edge some, if they decide to let me. haha

Like they said, nails will always be sharper after clipping. I use a dremel -- not really to avoid sharp edges, but to get the nail as short as possible.

Well my guys nails are huge, and Hottie has issues. To me its just easier to let someone else do it, and he surrenders. I do it, and I am not sure if it is because he got injured as a puppy, and I had to do bandage changes, but he gets worried.
With the others I use nail clippers and a nail file made for dogs to make them rounded, but really someone needs to show you how to do it as you can nick the quick in the nail even with a file.
