    Yorkie with malformed vertebra

IMOM is trying to help Tigger.

Tigger had problems very early on in life and would tumble and fall very easy. After mutable veterinary visit and being told “failure to thrive” and being told to dispose of him. He progressed well and was just like any other pup playing and enjoying life. He just lost his balance easy. Tig was just my “special baby”. As Tig matured he seem to be falling more often. It was a slow process until he was no longer able to stand or leave his bed and he didn’t want to eat. Tigger was diagnosed with Alanto-axial Instability. The surgeon said that Tigger urgently needed surgery right away to stabilize his neck to get the compression off his spinal cord. He kindly explained to me that his condition was declining Rapidly and the dangers of him severing his spinal cord causing sudden death. Tigger can’t walk and is total dependent on me for simple needs like going to the bathroom, eating and water. And is in a lot of pain. I was laid off my job recently and my only income is unemployment. And the several visits to the University have taken the last of my rainy day money. I have never been one to ask for charity but this time I do in the behalf of my little buddy. We desperately need your help! And there is no time for me to save up the money needed for his surgery. Tigger is a sweet and very attached little boy. I have learned so much from him, there is no other with such a big heart. And I am amazed everyday the will he has to live. I wish so much that he would have been diagnosed earlier in life so he could have enjoyed being a normal puppy playing. I am heart broken knowing that all this time he had a fixable condition.

If you can help, have ideas how how to raise funds, or have had experience with Yorkies, I'm sure his family would love to hear from you.

The IMOM Community Forum has moved. I'm not sure, but you may have to register to get to Tigger's thread and follow his progress. Tigger Hyer

I'm sorry to report that Tigger lost this battle and has gone to the bridge. You can read more about it on the IMOM board (link posted above). He did have the surgery, but their were complications. Thank you to all that donated.
