My sister has a dog of mixed breed who was born in Germany and came to the states when he was a puppy. They live in the country and he's a big hunter of small game. He participates in yard work and seems to mimick human behavior, speficially the grumpiness of her boyfriend. The strangest thing he does though is that he will place the top of his head against the trunk of a tree and stay still with his head against the tree, motionless and quiet for up to a half hour or better. When he does finally move, he gnaws a spot on the bark where his head was resting -- more like a gash -- around 6 inches long and one inch wide. Anybody ever heard of anything like this -- what is he doing?
