    Hide and Seek?

Does anyone ever play hide and seek with their dogs? I was playing that with them and my friend, Melissa, earlier today. It's quite fun...one of us takes the boys into a room and shuts the door. The other person (after making sure the dogs *knew* they had the treat..bread) goes and hides. The person in the room counts to 10 then lets the dogs out! They just love it! It's hilarious to watch them get all excited searching and sniffing all over the house. Usually they find us pretty fast, receiving a little piece of bread and lots of pettting. Poor little Mckinny just runs after the dogs as fast as he can, lol. He can go up the stairs but he doesn't dare go down them yet...so by the time he gets up the stairs after them, the dogs are back down, and he's left at the top.

We also have some property in the mountains and Reggie *loves* to play it there. Since there is nobody around most of the time, we just let him off the leash. He'll even find us without treats, he just loves to do it. There's a very wide area for him to search, but he just keeps going, bounding over bushes, until he finds us!

I play a mini version of this at the park with Duncan in the mornings....He is always runing ahead because he is faster than me, obviously!! So sometimes I will hide and he will turn around and come running until he finds me. We did this the other day though and he ran right past me with this terrified look on his face! I felt so guilty I stepped out from behind the tree and called his name. He tried to turn around and come back but he was going so fast, he slide and then I felt even worse!!! So I haven't hid from him since!!!

Sometimes when we are out in the back yard and the dogs are nosing around, I will slip into hiding and then call them. It's fun to watch them searching for me. Trouble is... not too many places to hide out back.

Hannah loves to play *Find the Kong*. I make them stay in the bedroom while I hide the kong in the family room. When I have it hid, I call *okay* and they both come running. (Much easier to hide a little kong than something the size of me.) Hannah immediately proceeds to search the room. Tucker doesn't have a clue what is going on. Hannah always finds it, no matter how long it takes her. She is a girl on a mission.

I have always played hide & seek with one of Bud's
tennis balls ( his favorite toy). I put him in a down/stay
in one room & take the ball and hide it . Then I say "find it"
and off he goes. He always finds it & gets a dog bisquet.

I have always played hide and seek with my dogs too! They LOVE it! I use it to help sharpen their sense of smell in finding things. Since they have to do scent discrimination in the higher levels of obedience and in hunt tests, it is a good tool to work them with and they don't even realize they are being worked.

we play with the girls...Ralph and I take turns hiding somewhere in the house while the other keeps the dogs distracted. Whoeer is hiding them calls the dogs to come. It make for a fun game, and it teaches them to come more reliably!

We have been doing this in school the last couple of weeks. At first Roxey seem scared, like "Where is she at????" But once she understood, it was so fun! We are going to start doing it outside now that the weather is warmer (tracking, that is). I think she'll do pretty good!

My friends dog, Cody, I remember once when I was over, she would throw a ball for him, then hide (or just tell him to wait) then she'd go hit..we hid in her car once, and when he came in the garage, you'd hear him sniffing around, then he'd jump and lookin in the window at us! it was so cute!

I do it with jo too, i tell her to wait and go hide and she comes and finds me hehe..ok so i have no life..

Eli loves hide-and-seek and has gotten almost too good at it! It used to be that he'd spend a long time trying to find things we hid, but now it's a huge challenge to hide a toy someplace at home that he can't find--and very quickly. We've created a monster!

I hide under a blanket and call Diana to find me. She always knows how to find my feet though...I wonder if she has some kind of puppy radar

I've never tried this with Kia before! My luck, she'll just jump all over the person that lets her out of the room and then will just go do something else. *laughs*

Whenever we are in a forest I always will hide somewhere and let Tina find me. She will always walk infront of us all, leading the way, but every few mintues she will backtrack and circle around her "pack" to make sure everyone is still there, and when she discoveres I am gone she looks so funny! Then my dad will say "Find Annette Tina, where did she go?!" (Annette is my real name if you're wondering). And off she goes! LOL, I love playing like that with her
