Nebo threw up (water and food) this morning but that's not that unusual as he does that occasionally from drinking water too fast. When my mom came home from work however, he had thrown up all over in his crate. It was about another hour before I came home and he vomited 5-6 more times in that period. Then he threw up again shortly after I got home and he kept gagging and coughing. He was acting downright miserable too, I could tell he was feeling very ill.
I was really worried of it possibly being bloat/obstruction, etc. so I rushed him over to the vet. Poor Nebo had to endure x-rays, blood test, shot, exam, etc. tonight which I know he did not enjoy but I'm happy at least the vet commented on how good he was about all of it. After all of that (and $250 I *really* did not have) the only diagnosis was an extremely irritated and inflamed stomach (I believe he called it gastritis) as well as possible vomit in the lungs (the cause of the coughing). The vet said that could lead to aspiration which could be serious so he's now on some medication to clear that up. Nebo had just been in his crate all day while I was at work neither the vet or I could figure out what he could have gotten into to cause this. He thought it may be some sort of toxin that Nebo ingested but there was nothing abnormal on the blood test to indicate that.
What a night, I fear the carpet is never going to forget it no matter how much Nature's Miracle I use. I'm just glad that Nebo seems to be feeling better (no more vomiting for now!)
