Hi all, it's me ...again...With another question...My cat Bubba (the unaffectionate one) haha..Has just been treated with amoxicillan for a snotty nose. vet said to treat her for 7 days and if symptoms are gone quit with the meds.. After 7 days she has cleared up great.. That was about 5 days ago..Well, guess what. she has started getting dry boogers around her nose again and I am wondering if maybe it is just her..She is a persian and her eyes are a little (very little) watery and I was just wondering if anyone out there has the same problem...She is a kitten and goes behing and under things where dust tends to accumulate .
Any help is appreciated.

It's not unusual for a Persian to have more eye/respiratory problems than other breeds, however a 'boogery' nose is usually a sign of a respiratory infection (but not always). For the watery eyes (which is common in that breed) just keep them wiped out with a damp cloth a few times a day, but check the color of the drainage, if it's yellow, or reddish or any color than clear, that may be an infection rather than normal tears.

If the Amoxi didn't work after 7 days, call your vet and see if he/she might want to try a second round. Sounds like maybe it cleared up enough to stop the symptoms, but not quite knock out the infection. Is she eating/playing/drinking ok otherwise?

Since she's been seen very recently for this same problem, and if the symptoms are the same, some vets may not require a second appointment. They may just let you pick up more meds, or a differerent med. You'd have to check with your vet to see what their policy is on that one.

With my cats, getting into dusty places (which is incidentally how Dusty got her name!), usually just causes them to sneeze once or twice when they crawl back out, but not get a 'boogery' nose.
