    Does he know?

For the past hour, one of my foster kittens has been obsessed with my dog Visa's belly. He's lying on the couch with her, kneading her belly and pushing his face through her thick fur. It's adorable, like he's trying to swim through her, jut knuzzling her until his whole head dissappears into her fur.

Of course now he just had to stop because the other dog pulled him away so she can groom him lol. Oh, he's back now. Wish I had my camera.

Do you think he knows she has babies in her belly?

Maybe or maybe he just wants some milk from her. Do you think that she'd be producing milk yet? I've also heard of kittens trying to suckle on male cats before too.

I checked the places he was nuzzling and it wasn't where her nipples are --- she's not producing milk yet, she's still got 3 weeks to go. He eventually stopped nuzzling her stomach and moved over to her pants where the hair is so long his whole body could practically get buried. I wonder if he was just being a lovey little baby, or if maybe she was giving off some motherly hormones. It was just adorable though. I'm considering keeping the little bugger.

It was no doubt VERY comforting for him, (and utterly adorable too!)

Sounds like the kitten wanted comfort, and maybe he did smell the hormones. As you undoubtedly already know, many cats knead and/or nuzzle as a way of getting or expressing a sense of comfort. By the way, your dogs are beautiful. My family once had a schipperke - a small Belgian breed that resembles the Belgian, and some say derives from the Belgian, or perhaps from some ancestor breed that produced them both.

My cat often suckles my ears while he kneeds my face
