    The "Lil Dirty Dozen" Fundraiser....

For those of you that have been keep in up with our threads on the Olney, Illinois kittens....they are doing great. They all have amazing personalities. There are two that are coughing and sneezing now. I am trying to come up with the funds to take them to the vet. Hence, the purpose of this thread.

For those that do not know the story, here is a briefing......

On Thursday, August 17th I took a four hour drive to Olney, Illinois to rescue (originally) eight kittens from a county pound. They were to be euthanized on Wed. the 16th, but with much persuassion and begging, the manager of the pound agreed to hold them one more day. In the bunch of babies was a pure white deaf male kitten...he was the main focus of the recue. Alot of people from PT pulled together and donated funds to Reach Out Rescue, NFP for the trip and rescue. Thank you to all of you. When we arrived at the pound, there were twelve in total. I could not leave the other four. The mess they made in their crates on the way home was unbeilvable! This is why they are called The Lil' Dirty Dozen! Name given by another PT member. Well three days later, here they are, still very messy kitties!! But they are all so sweet.

Reach Out Rescue, NFP is soley not for profit and we are now in need of funds to get them vaccinated, spayed/neutered, FIV/FELV tested, and to cure a few coughs and sneezes. The total for all the kittens bills is about $485.00 USD.

Please help us so we can get these babies adopted as soon as possible. We have more kitties then we have hands, so volunteers are also appreciated. If you are in the area of Hometown, Illinois, please send us an email at: [email protected].

To donate to our rescue for vet care of these babies, please visit our website or just click on the following link. (It will go directly to our "How you can help" page) http://www.reachoutrescuenfp.org/howyoucanhelp.html

Thank you again for all your contant support. To view these babies just click on this link: http://petoftheday.com/talk/showthread.php?t=111054

I wish Lizzie, but unfortunate, I live too far and I am at my limit. So the only way that I can help from my end is to send a donation.

Don't say "only", that's a wonderful way to help. I wish I could, but after paying for three of the adoptions and white kittie's vet fee, and with two special cats on the way, I have to hold back.

Lizzie, please do not feel bad. You have went beyond the duty of helping us get those babies. Just take care of your new special babies. By passing the word, you are doing more than enough. Thank you everybody once again.

Tracy, I just sent a donation. I sure wish I had room for another in my gang. I'd love Prince Charming the white one or one of the gray ones, heck I'd love them all!

The black and white boy really catches my attention. From his markings in the picture you posted he looks like a Picasso painting. If you still need names maybe you could call him Picasso.

My goodness! You have just helped me to re-name Thumper (shelter name because they couldn't call him Humper). I started thinking about artist names and, since Thumper does have unusually short legs, I think I will call him Lautrec - it's easier to say than Tolouse. Thank you, I've been trying to think of a good one for months.

Sorry, very sorry, about getting off topic.

Tracy - do you keep any meds at your rescue? Or you don't want to start medication until the sneezing and coughing kittens have seen a vet? Have you been able to isolate those cats? (You may have said and I apologise if I don't remember.) Is the woman who is coming to your rescue interested in general or did she hear about the kittens from Illinois?

Tracy - can you isolate the two and even run a vaporizer with Vicks in it? Might help them feel a bit better anyway.

    Poor babies!

    Hug them for me!

I do not have them isolated...not enough space. They are, however, in one cage together with no other cats. I do not have an medication here, I never had a cat that was coughing like this before. It is kind of worring me a bit. I do not have a vaporizor...where would I get one? I am worried that all the kittens are going to be sick, including my other rescues and my own four pet cats. The lady that came by today was just looking in general. She saw my website and wanted two female cats. She took my two one year old gals. They have been together for a while and are familar with each other.

I lost a baby today. One of my five week old rescues passed away. She was fine yesterday, woke up today and she was way past gone. Very sad. It has been a rough day. Thanks for listening to my complaints.

Ohhh...no, Tracy, I am so sorry about the wee baby!

Although with the Dozen, you saved many more than were supposed to be...this just is plain bad! I am SO sorry...HUGS!

A vaporizer - for humans, you can get at Wal-Mart for cheap. Fill with water, a bit of Vicks or tea tree oil(if your vet says ok), and away you go!

Tea tree oil is supposed to be antiseptic or something....the Vicks, etc, has eucalyptus.

Thank you Jazz! I so appreciate it. Actually the little black and white boy is named Clark...for Clark Kent. Yesterday my buddy was holding him, I threw an empty can of cat food in the garbage and the kitty took a "flying" leap into the garbage can! It was too funny! I said to the kit, "what, do you think you are superman?" My buddy said that Clark fit him very well. I really do like Picasso though. I am going to think about it, Picasso kind of does fit him better. Again, thank you.

Thank you. I am calling my vet first thing in the morning. They were closed today. I just hope all of the felines do not get sick.
