    » Tucker & O'Riley ― [ 5 pics ]

My Uncle, Aunt and cousins have two American Eskimo x Border Collie's that are always chained up, and in a ramshackle shelter at the side of their house in our extreme climate at night (+40 to -40 C).

For years I've been thinking of ways to get them out of there, or make their situation better but the whole family claims to love them and yet do nothing with them. The dogs do know lots of tricks and basic commands, but no time is ever spent with them.

They're covered in mats, they have feces stuck to their bum, and run out of water with having no one to fill it up for hours. I've finally decided I'm going to get someone at the humane society to go out there and check it out. At least they can get them to get the dogs groomed or something to make them more comfortable if they can't take them away.

These dogs are littermates and have had a litter! It was a litter of 6 and only 1 survived.. doesn't surprise me. The male (O'Riley) was neutered, but Tucker (female) is not spayed because they want to breed her to a purebred Border Collie.

Here are a couple of pictures of the poor things.
O'Riley with the black face, Tucker with the blaze.

O'Riley hiding under the rusted, broken down van, the only shaded place during the day.

    Tucker doing the same..

They are good dogs.. very friendly. My cousin put her baby down right in front of the dogs and they sat right in front of him and licked his face.

aww poor pups! They are both adorable, its a shame they aren't being taken care of properly I think you should talk to the humane society for sure... even though they are your cousins dogs.

And that's just an unfortunate coincidence in this situation. Just because they're my relatives does not make what they're doing to their dogs OK.

I'm happy that you're doing something for them. It really is a shame that those two beauties don't get the care they need.

good luck, I hope everything works out well for those pups, they deserve better care than they're getting now. why is it people think that if they "love" their dogs, that's enough? What happened to "love=food/shelter/concern for their well-being"?
