    AKC ILP #...for Jack?

At agility class last week the idea of getting Jack an AKC ILP number (Indefinate Listing Privilege, where non AKC registered dogs can compete in AKC events) came up. It sounded like a good idea until I started reading about it (http://www.akc.org/reg/ilpex.cfm). You have to submit the application with a non-refundable $35...and it says everywhere that the dog must be a purebred. I really don't know if I should submit the application or not, I really don't have $35 to throw out the window if he's not accepted!

They want a side profile picture and a head shot. I would take new pictures before/if I send it in, but heres what I have...

Had a hard time just finding a shot of his face :/

What do you think? It would open up our options on where we could show, but do you think Jack looks enough like a Lab to even risk it?

In the second picture he looks more like a lab. I would just keep taking pictures until you have some that he definatly looks like a lab in.

I really think he'll get accepted as a lab. Believe me, I have been to so many AKC agility shows where some of the dogs competing were definately NOT purebred, but they still had ILPs.

Yes, I think you can get an ILP for Jack. When we were doing agility our instructor said she thought even Ginger looked enough Eskie to get an ILP. I never did try, but Jack looks much more Labbie than Ginger does Eskie.

Ginger does look alot like an Eskie, and if you try, she would probably make it. And sometimes if you send in the form multiple times, AKC will say "no, no, yes."

This weekend at our agility trial, it was amazing! There was many dogs that had ILP numbers and they looked nothing like the breed they said they were. Jack looks like a lab, I know what you mean you want more open opportunity. AKC is the only thing really around here, except in Octomber we have a NADAC trial that I will have to register Zoey with. Just remeber at AKC trials a lot of people are rude if they find out your dog is a ILP. I have seen so many people be put down because of it.
Thanks so much Ashley for the siggy!

I'd say you could probably get him an ILP, he looks very much so like a lab to me... and I agree with what others have said... some of the dogs AKC gives out ILP's to don't even look the slightest bit purebred...
