Gatlinburg was a lot of fun. We didn't get a chance to do everything we wanted... like horseback riding.... but we've made a list of things to see and do when we go back.
Andy had rented a cabin that ended up being 10 minutes away from Gatlinburg. Our first day there we had dinner at The Peddler and then because of thunderstorms, skipped the midnight Independence Day parade.
Tuesday, we drove through the Smokey Mountain National Park, taking photos along the way and stopped up at Clingman's Dome, then hiked 2 miles to Andrew's Bald. Yes, there is a place in the Park called Andrew's Bald. Ha! We just had to go. On the way back we got caught up in a thunderstorm. Scary and exciting. We drove back to Gatlinburg, had baby back ribs at Bennet's B-B-Q, then wandered downtown till the fireworks. Very pretty!
Wednesday, we drove straight through the Smokey Mountains to Cherokee, NC. We went to the Museum of the Cherokee, had dinner at a mom and pops diner, then headed back for a long soak in the hot tub.
Thursday, we checked out of the cabin, went to the Ripley's Aquarium of the Smokey's, did some window shopping, then headed home. We stopped by the Cincinnatti Zoo Friday afternoon but those photos are on Andy's camera.
