Prey drive??? What prey drive???..lots of pics

Small, furred creatures in this yard are in grave danger. Today a bold, young squirrel got trapped by a pack of huskies! Prey drive a breed trait and all my dogs demonstrate it to some degree. Today was a little overboard though

11:30 this morning was when I first noticed a cluster of dogs around a tree. They stayed like this most of the afternoon.

Such focus from Ozzy. I've never seen him still for so long. He did try to climb the tree a couple times!

A change of position, but never took his eyes off that branch!

    Franklin helping Ozzy keep watch.

He got some help from Delta too.

    More coming....

Squirrell hunting is too much fun for huskies!

    Happy Delta

Delta in a seriously goofy mood! Not a side we see of Delta very often! He's a pretty serious boy.

Chum doesn't care too much about squirrels, but he was not leaving the area. He might miss something!

Mac having a great time. Nice to see him and his brother getting along all day!

    This evenings pics next

This was the scene at 9 o'clock tonight. Almost 10 hours later, they are still convinced they can catch that squirrell.

beautiful Bandit takes his turn watching.

Heyoka tried to help, but he's got a short attention span!

Mac does not have that issue. He can stay focused on one spot for days!

The squirrel escaped unharmed while the dogs ate their dinner. Smart little guy! If he can make it out of this yard, he should have a long life!

OMG! That's my Logan, expert squirrel gazer, ferocious groundhog catcher and mole digger-upper! Seriously, I think Mz Klo has some husky in her. She can also sit in one position for an hour then stalk like a lioness.

    GREAT PICTURES!

These were wonderful! Thoroughly enjoyed each one. Looks like Delta sure is blowing his coat right now. Love their intent gazes.

HAHAHA One day I swear squirrels are going to be the deaths of dogs everywhere. It's all a squirrel conspiracy. Eventually dogs everywhere will stop eating, sleeping, playing etc to keep a full time watch on the squirrels. It can be the only explanation as the other day at the dog park a squirrel was brave enough to run right through the middle of the park with about 12 dogs near by not to mention a hound Teddy saw it and immediately took chase lol. If that fence were 5 feet farther he would have caught it. What are squirrels thinking these days

I got it. Extreme squirrel sports

R.I.P my dear Sweet Teddy. You will be missed forever. We love you.

Hahaha, how funny. Their patience is amazing! And, what a brave (or stupid? ) squirrel! Speaking of lucky squirrels, I went to the zoo this weekend and saw a squirrel in the cheetah enclosure. It was so cool to see three cheetahs take off after one squirrel, and, he made it safely out! Do squirrels have nine lives like cats?

Thats too funny. Remonds me so much of Nanook. He once sat at the base of a tree in Florida for 4 days straight, waiting for the coon to come down. I even had to force him away so he would get a drink here & there. He didn't eat at all those 4 days. Needless to say some stupid farmer shot the coon.
Soar high & free my sweet fur angels. I love you Nanook & Raustyk... forever & ever.

He certainly is! I am forever grateful for that thick coat. I'm sure it helped him survive the cold while he was on his own. He let me brush him last night, but he wouldn't turn around so one side of him looks lovely. He's still molting on the other side!

They must all have sore necks from all that gazing upward yesterday. Crazy squirrel. Bets that he won't be back again.
