    Fister goes walkabout

Since Fister came back from the hospital, we haven't let him out. His fur has not grown back on quite yet, but it's been a week or more now without pills and his energi level is high. So, the other evening he persuaded us to let him out. (7.00 PM) He has his ways!! We just couldn't resist! Out he went, and we were watching him from the window for about an hour. He went all the way around the yard to check out the "news" - and he just loved it! All the new grass, flowers and the dustbin house (where he spent his first few weeks) He had a ball!

He usually sits under our window when he wants to come back up, but we looked and called for him all evening - no Fister around! So I tried the old trick, shaking the dry food bag by the window - but still no Fister. By 00.30 we had had enough and went to bed, but of course we couldn't fall asleep without him, so by 1.30 I got up and had another look (and a little snack) , I threw a few pieces out, and Pjevs came running (the old resident back yard cat). A moment later Fister came to see what was going on, but was only interested in me coming down to open the door for him! Back up, he went right to sleep under our bed! (he normally comes up for a cuddle first)

This evening he wanted to go out again - but he's NOT going anywhere!!

Fister had a lot to catch up on and check out! I don't blame you though. I probably would make him a complete house cat just so I'd know where he was. Mine all are and don't mind a bit. I'm so glad he's doing so well.

Phew, I'm so glad he came back safely!!

I was laughing so hard when I read about your little trick with shaking the food bag, that's the exact same thing I do when I can't find Oliver!!

Please sign my guestbook if you have the time

Sounds as if if Fister wanted a bit of time for himself since he hasn't been able to get out for a while. i am glad that he returned safely.

    Randi,

I'm glad Fister came back. I have 7 cats and they are all inside cats. They don't mind at all really. As long as the windows are open so they can smell the fresh air.

Now MooShoo on the otherhand, he LOVES going for rides in the car and for walks on his harness. He only gets to do it though when the weather is over 70 because he's a Sphynx and has no fur. He has his own little sweater that he wears.

I don't think I could ever let my cats out as I would worry too much about their safety.

I'm glad it had a happy ending!

Tiger did the same to me just before her spay appointment. I let her out and she disappeared. Like any other cat lover I was greatly worried about her. I knew that she wasn't far off but why did she not come in for her usual evening meal? The next morning I found her less that 25ft. away from home, but apparently she had snooped around under the neighbor's mobile home, and since there were two others living under there, that they oprobably wouln't let her out without attacking her. She was laying with the others on the grass just outside the entrance of the under-home opening. She was one scared kitty, very weak and hungry. When I picked her up she was still growling at her "captors". Since that time and after her spaying, she does not make any attempts to get outside any longer, except once and then Mama cat attacked her. So now she is content to stay inside, where she can do what she wants, including playing, sleeping, eating, and receiving a few scritchies and huggies.

Ooohhh, Fister was a happy boy! All those new smells and things to catch up on. But it does get scary when they don't come when called - even when they're in the house! And he was probabaly so tuckered by all the excitement that he completely forgot about the snuggle and just wanted to get to bed. Glad he came back safe, and even more glad that he's doing well enough to be let back outside, even if for only one night.

All of my cats are indoor only cats too. Pepper will run out the door occasionally but gets scared and runs back in. They are very content to stay inside and I'm glad because I'd worry about them too much if they were outdoors. I'm glad Fister is feeling like his old self again and I'm glad he finally came back to you. I'm sure in time he'll pick up his normal routine and come in when you call him.

I bet he had the great time Randi - just think all those new smells, flowers, puddles and cats to be investigated!! I bet he fell alseep somewhere - and didn't hear the rattle of food! Thats what we do to get the three stooges in! It works too!
