Casper and Kitty are soon 12 months, and I'd say for the past month they haven't grown at all...In december our vet said they woulnd't grow anymore, but after that, Casper took a spring and grew (taller). Casper is pretty long now too... I'm not sure when they actually stop growing...Ours seem to have stopped that now (and they will probably start growing the other way now, side ways)

I was told that a cat stops growing at 3-5 years of age.

Eash breed is a bit different

I was told that Abys mature much more slowly than many breeds. I guess that means that they will be small and kitten like a lot longer.

I swear he has grown 10x the size of when we got him, whereas the girl kitties of course are much smaller. He has this mondo big feet.... and he is getting so heavy (but not fat)

A friend of mine indicated that most growth in the first year for 'most breeds'is skeletal growth and in the second year they kind of beef up with muscles, etc. It's worked that way in my home at least. Cassy and Livvy don't seem to have grown much since their second birthdays... Cassy is basic tabby and Livvy is a Maine Coon mix. What breed is Max: Siamese??? I'm not sure what their growth pattern is...

I seem to remember reading something to this affect on the Purina web site. Ritz got to be about her current "height" and length by the end of the first year, but between year 1 and year 2 really developed a lot more "sturdiness" in her musculature and bone development. I seem to remember reading that the majority of growth is done by about 2 years old, but I think it varies a little by breed.

When does a cat stop growing... lengthwise???
I wish I knew! I have the same problem with Foxy who is not yet 10 months old. He's MUCH longer than his two sisters (5 and 4 years old).

It has been my experience with my furkids, since I have raised most of them from birth, that they do most of their growing in about 9 to 10 months. Afterwards, they mostly fill out and gain wieght,. Also they may change their coat colors somewhat from being a kitten to being a mature cat. Snow cat was an example of coat-color changes, that is, the older he got the more flame brown he began to acquire, which I'm finding out that this is also due to seasonal changes as well. However, his is still predominantly a white cat.

...read somewhere that Maine Coons may take 3-4 years to mature. As big as they become, no wonder!
We suspect that Foxy has some Maine Coon in him.

I think that it takes about a year for a cat to grow to it's full length. After that they tend to grow more muscular and wider. I think it also depends on the breed of cat. My cat Storm was at least a year old when I adopted him and he didn't seem to grow any more in length but he did become more muscular and wider. Pepper did the same thing but continued to get wider. Both Storm and Pepper's fur also became longer as they matured. I adopted Sunny when he was 8 months old and he continued to grow in length until he was about a year old. Now he's also filling out a little bit more. He'll be 2 in August. Also male cats tend to be larger than female cats. I have three males and they are all very large cats.
