    Poor Honey and Lilly :(

left a message at the groomer's this morning, hoping for an opening later this week. We've had lots of rain, therefore we have muddy girls (red clay....yikes).
When she returned my call, she said she could only take them "right now"....no opening the rest of the week. This is a good thing....they only have to stay a couple of hours, not the whole day, like normal.

    The chase started!!
Lilly is so good about coming to me, even for a ride in the car. Honey.....no way!! I ran, I chased, in bushes, out of bushes. I said "STAY"....she ran anyway. I tripped in a hole they had dug by the fence and landed on my "you know what". LOL!! All of this is in the bushes, mind you! Finally, she plops herself on the back steps and I am able to get her. LOL!!

Then everyone is in the car, and there is a wreck on the road we need to get on, so we wait, we sing, etc. When I get to the groomer, luckily, I have already clipped both girls to their leashes before opening the back of the car. Poor pitiful things about smushed themselves in the car. They didn't want to get out. Makes me sad. Got them out, and Honey started backing out of her brand new collar!!! Scarey stuff!!! Thankfully, a customer who was getting there the same time as me got the groomer to come outside with another leash to help me in. Had to carry Honey inside, while the lady helped me with Lilly. Think I'll be calling the plumber and searching the web so I can get set up to do it here. It is not worth it to upset them. I've already given up on boarding them. Now, I guess I'll be spending some $$$$ to give up on grooming them outside of the house too.

2 1/2 hours and they'll be home, all clean and beautiful. Will they get spoiled?? You'd better believe it!!!

    Logan

Gosh, the title of your post gave me such a fright. I'm glad it was only a merry chase and they will come home squeaky clean. That may last about an hour.

Well, ... they will be gorgeous. (Although that may not be compensation as far as they are concerned, right?) Any chance we can see photos of them when they are fresh from the groomers?

You've had a challanging morning already. Hang in there.

Around here there are groomers who come to your house in a panel van and groom your dogs at home. Anything like that around you?

I need to find out, Sara. I think that may be the only other solution to the problem. I am tired of upsetting my girls!

Poor doggies! How cruel to make them ride in the car and go get groomed! What a mean mommie! LOL!!! Mine are more upset if they DON"T get to go in the car. I even took Sadie with me to get the oil changed in my truck today and believe it or not, they let her inside their waiting room and gave her dog biscuits! They made a customer for life

Have you ever heard of or seen the Premier collars? Both my girls have them. They are nylon, like regular buckle collars but they tighten if they try to back out. Their is also a version called the "Chinook", that has a safety break away in case they get caught in a fence or something. They have worked great for us.

Honey and Lilly, enjoy the spoiling mom gives ya

Geez Logan, were you trying to give me a heartattack?? With all the bad news on here the last week or so, I was almost afraid to open this (being that I am at school and didn't really think it would be appropriate to blubber in front of the class) for fear of crying AGAIN!

You did make me smile though with the first part of your story and smiling hasn't been part of my life the last few days.

I want pictures of your pretty girls when you get them home. Give them an extra treat from the Kendall Klan!

    NICE PRETTY CLEAN GIRLS!

I just put mine in our bath tub! I tell them in and they jump right in. I groom them myself and then about every two months I take them to the groomers to do the ears. I never seem to do a nice grooming on the ears. Everything else turns out nice (especially the paws).

I do one dog at a time though. It is a time consuming experience for me!

Can we get pictures of these two fresh and lovely beauties? Especially since you scared the heck out of all of us with your subject line! LOL

    They are home, already!!!

Sorry to have scared you, friends!!!!!

They are home, and so clean. I will definitely put a new roll of film in the camera and get a picture of the "clean" version. Too bad I didn't take a "muddy" picture, so you could appreciate the difference!! LOL!!!

The lady at the groomers said "no fleas, no ticks, but a lot of red dirt!"!!! I'm not surprised!

Tucker gets done at home every other time. He's a good boy, but it is still an effort. In the summer we do it outside. I've bought a couple of those big Rubbermaid type storage containers and haul out hot water (by the buckets full) from the house, then add cold from the hose. One container is for his shampoo and the next is for his rinse. Don't know which is worse, hauling water outside or cleaning up the bathtub afterwards inside.

Neither one of mine actually relishes going to the groomers. Both of them will put the skids on as we get near the door, but never had to carry one in yet. You are a kind and gentle, Mommy, Logan, but I don't know how you can heft up a big dog like that.

Enjoy how good they smell while you can as we all know they will try their best to find something not so pleasant to roll in the first chance they can.

Logan, your story cracked me up! Drake loves car rides and would sell his soul to go on one! He does hate the groomers though. We took him there only once and we were politely ased to leave and NEVER BRING YOUR DOG HERE ANYMORE! Andrew and I groom Drake our selves. It is quite a feat, but I manage. He gets a bath in the tub and I have an attachment that goes on the faucet, a hose/brose combo. He gets shampooed, rinsed off, and then towel dried. Can not use a blow drier cause he hates it! He will growl at it and bark, evben if it isn't turned on! LOL!

He gets brushed everyday and gets a summer haircut twice, one in April and then again in July. His ears get cleaned once a month and his teeth brushed everynight when I brush mine. Never have to clip his nails because our 6 mile run on the pavement seems to file them down!

Your chase sounded very familiar! I do that every morning when I try to leane the house!

Give the clean girls a hug and a kiss from Me!
