    Question Licking!!!!

My 1 yr old Bloodhound Duke is quite a licker!!! He will go out of his way to lick you, he will even lick your clothes. He has to have his face in yours all the time! even if he is sitting with his back to you he will flip his head backwards and start licking! It is quite funny, untill he goes and drinks and then comes back for more licks!! hubby say he uses us as his napkin!! If you dont know, Bloodhounds slobber, horribly!! so it can drive people nuts! I usually have to put him outside when company coms over because he just drives everyoone insane! He is also one of those dogs that has to be by your side at all times. I was wondering if anyone else has this problem, and why he might be doing this??
    Maggie,

I didn't slap you, I just high fived your Face!

Kodie loves to lick everything, especially when you have lotion on your legs .Kodie might have some bloodhound in him so maybe its the breed. He alsos loves licking the floor, including carpet.I'm not sure why he would lick so much,he's probably just affectionate.

I myself dont mind the licking, I find it quite funny. But when company comes over, he is not appreciated! I guess i just want to make sure that he is doing it because he wants to, and not becuase something is wrong.

I have a 2 month old chocolate lab who loves to lick as well but I just assume this is his way of showing he is happy with us..LOL.. Better than the nipping he loves to do.. but we are working on that as well.. I told hubby when he licks us so much I said he's tenderizing our skin before he nips.>ROFL

OH M Y>> The are ABSOLUTELY ADORABLE >>> I see your little lab tends to get crusties in the corner of his eyes also.. I'm constantly wiping Dakotas eyes after he awakens from a nap.>LOL.. Here he is walking on a leash at 6 weeks of age... I finally resorted to a harness though as I realized with the collar when he wants to pull it chokes him.. PLUS I have more control over him with the harness..

LOL yes i have to wipe the crusties from jakes eyes! And the drool from Dukes mouth!! he he he he!! I just got a harness for jake too, becase he does pull as well. your puppy is adorable! I was hoping for a chocolate puppy, but his mom had 7 black labs. Mom was yellow and dad was chocolate. Oh well, he is my sweet little boy, he has such a great personallity.

My puppys mommy was chocolate and his daddy was blonde.. He has a little tad of blonde in his tail.. You basically see it when the sun is shining.. I love my baby though..

Yup, mine is also a licker! He licks the floor the most (licking as he walks or when he's just resting). Then there're the sofa, the bedsheet (when he's on our bed), our legs, his daddy's feet/toes .... but it's not like he licks non-stop, maybe when he has better nothing to do i guess?

My beagle is a very big licker, I have never seen a dog lick so much, if you dont like to be licked by a dog, do not wear sandals, or shorts to my house...lol

She especially loves toes but she will lick all over your legs, arms, face, whatever is in her reach...and she can sit there forever just licking away!! You have to tell her no and move away to ever get her to stop
