    I need help with flying!

My departure date is July 14th, the day before my birthday, to go to Oregon/get my pooch. I need help finding an airline that will let me take my Chi on the plane. Also, I need help finding a carrier that is approved by them! I have never done this on my own before so I need a lot of help in pretty much every aspect. Thank you.

EDIT: Just a tidbit, I will be flying on the plane and the pooch will be in the cabin with me!

I have heard from a LOT of folks for years that Continental airlines are the best airlines for shipping pets.
I know Delta ships pets too but don't know anything else about Delta.

I know your dog will need to UTD on all vaccines and an exam & health certificate within 10 days of flying.

Sorry I can't be of any help with what carriers are airline approved. Your best bet would be to find an airline & ask them what they accept. Good luck and have fun!

Yeah you should probably ask them what they except. I heard somewhere (don't know if its true) that you could pay a little extra and your dog could ride under the seat with you on the plane! Just a thought. But like I said don't know if it is true. Enjoy the new puppy!! Give it lots of hugs and kisses from me!

i'm pretty sure you have to have a small size soft crate.
    something like this

If s/he is going below, then they need a plastic travel crate.

Best thing to do is call the airline!good luck with your new pup!

It's true, you can pay extra and the dog can be on the plane. My aunt paid extra for her tiny little dauschaund and he was buckled into the seat next to her (like a baby) while in a carrier. I don't remember which airline, but just do google. Google is love!

I have a family friend who lives in California and travels to Florida a lot. He always flies with his pomeranian, Bailey. I don't know what airline he uses, but I do know that Bailey rides in the cabin of the plane with him. Bailey travels in a Sherpa Bag . They're really nice bags, I have one and love it.

EDIT: I just found this on the Sherpa site, I though it may help you.

Hey guys, just so you know, she said in an earlyer post she's flying her Chi under her seat in a soft bag, if that helps any.
Sorry, I've never owned a dog that small so I couldn't help ya!
