    Lake's Attitude Problems..

Ok..Lake is our Siamese-Tabby Mix we adopted when she was barely 2 weeks old. Her mother was hit by a car right after giving birth, and the sister of the owner worked in a vet's office where I got her for my boyfriend as a birthday present 2 years ago now. (For everyone who didn't know her story). She is a very petite little lady but has aggression problems it seems. She will growl, slap, and hiss any of our other cats that just simply walk by her. She will also hit and growl if they come up to her or even walk into the room and she's in there. (At times it's funny but then other times she is just plain MEAN)! The only one she isn't like this to is our Orange Tabby man Simba, who kind of helped "raise" her I guess. He taught her how to clean herself and do "cat things". We just had two for awhile then adopted 3 kittens and a stray came up last year we've kept and adopted. She isn't aggressive with him either, it's just our 3 females. (We have a total of 6 cats in all.) She hates to be held and will growl if we pick her up, but she never scratches or bites us. Do you think she just has her own "personality" or maybe there is some sort of behavior problem here? Don't worry...I will NOT get rid of her because of this, plus my boyfriend would get rid of me before his precious Lakey-Poo..lol. I've asked my vet and he just laughs it off and says she's just "set in her ways".

Unfortunately, Meezer's are very "interesting" cats, each having it's own personality.

I don't know if you remember Parker, my Meezer foster kitty. She HATED other cats. I had her isolated in another room and somehow, MooShoo was able to climb the baby gates to get at her. Needless to say, Moo got his ass whooped including several very deep bites.

How long has she been with you and the other cats?? Could it be that you introduced them too soon?? Introducing cats to each other is a very delicate thing. It takes time. Sounds like it might just be her personality.

I've heard alot of good things about Feliway, a diffuser that helps de-stress cats. Might want to try it.

If that doesn't help, a little tranquilizer might be in order. If the vet laughs it off, get another vet as it really is no laughing matter.

    Good luck.

Perhaps it's a gender thing. Maybe she feels competitive with other female cats and companionable with the males. That doesn't help you as far as solving the problem, but at least it might help as far as seeing her behavior as seeming mean. Maybe she's just protecting her relationship with her "boyfriends." And yeah, the Siamese part could be a big factor in her personality.
