Makes training harder. lol. Unless I've got a treat, or mimic my hand having a treat. He looks at me like I'm stupid.
What am I doing wrong?
Camen, Sometimes does that if he still has alot of energy. It's always best for Camen to burn off alot of that energy before I train him anything. Such as playing fetch or after a good run. And to only work for 10-15 mins only, they'll get bored and confused anything more than that and not listen.
I hope that helps![]()
lol, Maggie has 'selective' hearing as well. If she doesn't want to do whatever it is I'm asking, she'll just pretend she didn't hear. The most common is when I tell her 'down' when she doesn't want to lie down, she'll sit and look the other way. It's pure stubbornness on her part. Treats do help to get her attention, for sure...she is usually instantly obedient to 'sit' and 'down' if she knows I have a treat. This is purely manipulation on her part to get treats, I think. I have started to make her do more than one thing before she actually gets treats to start weaning her away from the treats gradually. If I keep her in suspense about when she will or won't get a treat, she is more obedient; I have not yet gotten to the point where I can mimic a treat in my hand to get obedience from her (partly because she's a hound and can smell from a long way off if I have a treat or not).
It is the way to a dogs heart, wish we could convince them otherwise![]()
