    Is Leonardo Weird?

Today while I watched Leonardo take his nap all stretched out on my bed with his head on my pillow, it dawned on me he's not like the other cats. He seems to have no interest in the outside world. He never has sat in the windows drooling over birds. Loud noises outside may make him raise his head and look at me or make him dive under the bed but not peek out the window to see what is sneaking up on us. When the yard is being mowed, he doesn't run from window to window trying to watch. When I have the fans in the windows in the summer he will sit in front of them and sniff the fresh air. Other than that he seems quite content in the house. I wonder if this is because he had no outdoor life before I found him. He was only around 10 days old and only had one eye half open. Maybe he really thinks he is a human and has no interest in birds. He did catch a mouse once, but I think that was an accident. He played it to death. He's been this way for almost 12 years and I just now noticed. On second thought, maybe I'm the weird one!

LOL moff. Each cat is different in their personality, just like humans are, and for whatever reason, Leonardo just has no interest in the outdoors. I don't think he's weird (you either for that matter ).

LOL! Great observations and very funny, but MOFF neither you or Leonardo are weird. I remember when Mr. Rogers used to sign off at the end of his show he often said "You are special. There's no one like you!" Well, there is no one like Leonardo either. He's your special little love. How nice to just have that moment where you sat and watched him sleep and thought about his uniqueness.

    Strictly Indoor and loves it

    Dear MOFF,

My Julie is very content to be inside my two-bedroom apartment; she never tries to go outside. I found her as a stray who was abandoned by some people who moved away from a duplex across the street about seven years ago. She was an adult then and of course was living outside at that time. The new tenants of the duplex were kind enough to feed her, but they did not want her, and eventually I bonded more with her and started feeding her outside our building. I had coaxed her into my apartment but she would freak if I tried to close the door with her inside.

Then one night when I came home she rushed out to my car and scared me to death because I thought she had gone under the wheels! So I grabbed her and took her inside and she has been quite content there ever since! My guess is that she must have begun her life as an indoor kitty, because she was being beaten up by the other neighborhood cats and did not have good sense about staying out of the street. As for me, I am delighted! I would not have her any other way.

So give your Leonardo a kiss for me. I love that name ... MARTHA

I would give ANYTHING if Rascal were to lose interest in going outside. He was already a year and a half old when I adopted him and how long he had been roaming free was unknown. He has always been gentle (ah, how quickly you forget - NOT ALWAYS).

However, he continues to get into fights and he doesn't know it yet, but after he comes home from the Vets he will be staying indoors.

momoffuzzyfaces! I have only during the last couple of years realized how different cats are, it's amazing! Fister loves to sit in the windowsill and sniff the fresh air and looking at the birds. He's more an inside cat now than he ever was, but around dusk, he wants to go out. Once or twice a week we let him, but sometimes we just let him run on the staircase - he seems to be content with that! At the moment we don't let him out at all, he is still getting his medicine and his fur hasen't grown back yet.

BLESS YOU FOR THAT! I was afraid I'd get a thousand replies agreeing on how weird I am.

I bet you won't get any!! You're not weird at all - and I'm sure we all enjoy your posts immensely!!

Not only that, but it's the old "If you live in a glass house...." theory. If we admit that you're weird, that makes us weird too because I'm sure we're all in the same boat when it comes to the precious little creatures that share our humble homes and lives. So, either no one's weird, or we're all weird, what's it going to be everybody?
