    dog got sick

My Basset Hound is 3 yrs old, but we just took her in in August 05. She likes to chew on things and one day she chewed on the sole of an old shoe of my sons and got sick from it. Now today, she has been outside all day, and she came in the house and threw up. I can't figure out what from, unless it was too many dog biscuits, but I don't think so. Couldn't find anything on the ground or anything she might have eaten outside to get sick. How common is it for a dog to chew on things, or eat things she shouldn't then get sick from it? We give her chew bones, but it doesn't seem to help. Anyone have suggestions?

I'm not sure I know what you mean??? Does he get sick every day? Or did he just get sick the two times you mention? Also is he overweight... many Bassets tend to get too heavy easily. This can lead to digestion problems coupled with just minor exercise. My Beagles would occasionally throw up after being outside... usually it was from eating a bug or wilted sour grass. Maybe if you elaborate a little more, someone can be more helpful.
