they are not "IT's"!As long as we conti

    Good Morning
it is evident that you love Emmie very much, BUT... why to you refer to a living, breathing. loving creature as an "IT" is beyond me. Please realize that words have power and that when you call your baby an "IT" it does have a profound impact on how these wonderfull furries that share this place w/us are viewed by others.
As long as we continue to disrecpect them by assigned them no more the value of an possession, then we all lose.

It is a major annoyance to me when people refer to an animal as "it". If I don't know the sex I will just say "he/she" instead...

However, I'm not sure I know what you are refering to... I didn't see any references to "it" on today's COTD, just "she". Perhaps I'm missing something...

Please sign my guestbook if you have the time

It was the references to Emmie's sister from a different litter (in the first part) that upset me so much... guess it was a good thing that Emmie is "perfect".. *as if any of them could be less!*
wonder what happens if she becomes less than perfect in the future.

I would not take offense at that small reference so quickly, "tortieshell terrace, as that helps distinguish the kitten that was given away from the "she" of the Cat of the Day, Miss Emma. Otherwise it could have been confusing - wait, you gave "her" away but you kept "her?"

We know, here at Cat of the Day, that ALL cats are special. She was using "perfect" just in describing the markings, and does not seem to imply anything about the whole of the other cat, just the markings, which THAT kitten's owner may think "perfect" as well - would just plain symetrical be boring?

Maybe we should let up on Emmie's parent. "It" was probably just a slip which meant no disrespect. We are spoiling her joy at having her cat as COTD. My cats are all perfect as well - in my eyes!

I'll chime in with my standard comments about the transparency and opaqueness of the written word without other cues such as tone of voice, body language, etc! Please cut a body some slack.
