Hi all,
It's been ages, but slowly, very slowly, everything is getting sorted, and I can get back to sharing on this board. Bob and Don are both doing really well. Don has taken to me a lot, and always meets me, and only me, at the door. He is never far from me, and only seems to listen to me. Bob, while fond of me, is a momma's boy, and won't leave Laura's side. When we hug too long, in his mind, he wanders around our feet and will stretch up Laura's leg, demanding attention. Very cute, but..............
I have a plan drawn up to build a cat tree for my boys, because after seeing the prices of the ones in the stores, well....... not gonna happen. I have it mapped out, and am working out some of the kinks (i.e. what's best to use for a post, etc.), but one question I'm stuck one is, how do I affix the sisal rop to the boards and post? I want to use staples as little as possible, just in case, but is there a safe glue I can use? One that will stand up to the cats scratching, but won't poison them? Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
I'm hoping to post a few pics in a few minutes, keeo your fingers crossed.

Not sure about the boards, but you can just tightly wrap the posts and use a lot of staples at the top and bottom to hold them in place. I would not suggest glue because if your cats are like ours, they will eventually rip through the sisal and then you'll have a mess on your hands if you want to replace it. Bobcat (husband) wrapped the legs of his work table with sisal rope. It took a year and a half, but you can see the results in this photo. Halo and Pepper eventually ripped it up.

I did used glue, the foaming kind up and down the posts and used nails at the top and bottom at the ends of the rope (was afraid of the staples being pulled out and swollowed). I wrapped the tail ends of the rope in tape, then nailed them in. Don and Bob will be thrilled that you made it for them!! Mine have had theirs for going on 2 years and they still love it.

Hey, it is great to hear from you. Can't wait to see those beautiful white boys.

As for the rope, can't help you as I wondered the same thing myself. I do tend to think that simply attaching the bottom, wrapping TIGHTLY and attaching the top, is the best way to go. And also, make sure any staples are placed vertically not horizontally.

Is there a Book With Plans as My Contractor could Build something like that on the New Enclosed Porch for all the Found Cats and Porchies to play on.
I think that that would make thier Furry Lives Complete.
