    yorkshire terrier

my grandmother is looking for a companion. she wants a yorkshire terrier. she wants a puppy. she has all the time in the world and plenty of energy to keep up with a puppy. if anyone knows of a rescue or reputable breeder with yorkie pups available in the indiana area please let me know.

i normally wouldn't ask this, but my grandmother is really lonely and needs a friend. thanks!

Yorkies are great dogs for older people. They have wonderful personalities. They are generally hard dogs to train though, especially to house break. Make sure she's up to the challenge before she gets a puppy. It sounds like she is the perfect candidate though. She'll need a lot of time and energy to train a yorkie puppy.

Sounds like a good breed if she is physically fit. The one problem I can forsee is if she has a hard time kneeling down or bending over. Should the puppy get into something and need to be picked up, will she have a problem since the pup will be so small and close to the ground? Or will she have issues setting the puppy down? Otherwise a good choice. Lots of cute little dogs in Indiana on petfinder.

If she wants to get one from a reputable breeder rather than a rescue, she needs to be prepared to spend a LOT of cash. Honestly, I don't understand why people pay so much for a pet.

thanks! she doesn't have a problem with bending down like to pick up a puppy. i've owned 2 yorkies and i informed her about how tough it can be to housebreak a yorkie. she says she thinks she can handle it.

i'll show her the two dogs you sent me on petfinder. Cupid is just adorable!

Have you checked the Yorkshire Terrier Club of America's breeder referrals? That's the first place I look at when searching for a breeder:

There are only seven, so that should narrow it down a bit. As usual, go through the normal questions: health testing, champions, active participation in agility and conformation and similar sports, etc. etc. That should help you narrow it down to the "one" breeder
