    Puppy Pic of Duncan

This is a picture of a Hovawart puppy. They are an extremely rare breed of German working dog. Duncan looks so much like one, it's uncanny!!!

Many of you know that I adopted Duncan from the local shelter at ~ 6 months of age. All I know about his life before I brought him home is that he was found as a stray with a large cut around his neck where the vet believes he was tied up and his puppy collar grew right into his neck from neglect. I stumbled across Hovawarts while researching breeds to see if I could piece together what types of dogs Duncan may be a mix of. The rememblance is unbelieveable!! I emailed the secretary of the Hovawart Club of America and she agreed with me. We compared notes on his behavior, attitude, personality, and physical characteristics and she was convinced that he was an authentic Hovawart. They invited me to come to a show in St. Louis to have him examined by a German judge. I am not able to attend although it would be a hoot as these dogs are so rare!
It doesn't matter anyway what he is. I love him completely. But it's a neat story!

I wish I knew him as a puppy! I think he would have looked just like this little one!!

What a sweetheart! And look at the size of those paws!!! He is going to be one beautiful boy when he grows up!

Give Duncan a hug and tell him it's a just because hug! How lucky he is to have you!

That Hovawart puppy sure is a cutie!

I know what you mean by wishing you knew Duncan when he was a little puppy. I wish we had gotten Draker when he was younger too. I bet he was the most adorable pup ever. We got him when he was 4 months old and he weighed 35 lbs. I used to car him around in a pouch (you know the ones they have for babies). He was a bit too big for it, but neither of us seemed to mind.

Souraya, I've been meaning to ask you....Where did you get Drake and how do you know what type of dog he is? Is there a thread on it somewhere?
