Are people typically fearful of your dog/s

Some people get freaked out when they see Cagney. Which is weird because he is not some huge dog. I hate seeing people back up and act fearful when they see large dogs and it drives me nuts. It's so offending.

98% of people seem to be horribly afraid of the Dobermans just because of their breed. 50% of people stay away from Tia because the assume little dogs are "ankle biters" which is totally not true and a few people are afraid of Tango because of her eyes. They're sort of a goldy-brown colour and when she stares she gets a really intense look which seems to deter people from her.

yes, mostly Kodie.I've noticed here its usually the people who DO NOT own a dog.All of the dog owners on our walks are not afraid of him at all.
One lady saw me walking Kodie and she turned around and started running the other way lol,i just ignore them. I've only gotten 1 comment that offended me though.People ask me if he's going to bite them? umm i wouldnt take him out if he would attack some one

Yes, most people seem fearful of my girls. A stranger coming to the house is almost always afraid. When the girls and I are out walking we get lots of comments about how beautiful they are but everyone keeps a distance. Yesterday when we were walking there was a group of young kids out playing and one of the little girls spotted us from a distance and hollered at us asking if she could pet our dogs. After telling her yes and getting closer she took one look at Tori and said that Tori was scary looking...lol. Those eyes do it every time. It didn't stop her though she asked if Tori liked kids and when I told her yes, the little girl seemed fine then. She was such a tiny little girl and I was impressed that she wasn't afraid of the big dogs and that she knew to ask if she could pet them.

Occasionally I wish people weren't afraid of them but most times it doesn't bother me and I actually feel safer because of it. I'm pretty certain that no one is going to bother me when my girls are with me.

It doesn't bother me when people say they're afraid of Finn. I'm afraid of public speaking. And, of flying, stinging, buzzing insects. And, of heights. Everyone has their fears, and, fears are generally not founded on intelligent thought. However, if someone says they're afraid, but, don't want to be, I take advantage of it and try to help them pet Finn. But, little kids are oftentimes afraid of him just because of his size...and, some kids and adults have had bad experiences with dogs, and, I am not about to force anyone to like Finn. I don't have a breed or color that is poorly and largely over exaggerated in the media, though, for which I'm fortunate. For those people afraid of dogs or certain breeds because of the garbage they've been fed via the media, I have no sympathy for. And, I find people who refuse to think beyond what they've simply been told absolutely offensive.

I voted sometimes because a lot of people tend to be afraid of Lacey. Most are not afraid of Mandy.

The only time that anyone ever seemed afraid of Bella was at Petsmart when she was wearing her Halti. I heard the mom of a little girl there whisper to her that she shouldn't get near her because she was wearing a muzzle.

Some little kids are afraid of Snowy because she jumps up on them to lick their face.

It depends, most people are afraid of Shadow because shes a Rottie and when shes wearing her halti they freak out thinking its a muzzle...there have been a few people approach me when I'm walking the Jack russells and people generally don't get very close but look at them from a distance And most people aren't afraid of Jack, usually only little kids because he loves to give huge sloppy kisses and kids are the perfect height for him.

Can't remember anybody being afraid of Murph. He's small, cute and light colored and that tail of his is always waggin'. He's great with kids and non-dog people too, because he doesn't jump up on'em. My nephews, who are afraid of dogs, warmed up to Murph first. I always have people rushing up to pet Murph and they never ask. Not necessarily a good thing, but he just doesn't intimidate anybody.

I think because of his size and eye color, Oz scares some people. I've had people shy away from him and ask if he bites, before they'll pet him. But then there's times when I go to the park and have tons of kids rushing up to pet him. He's gotten calmer as he's matured and he doesn't bark at people, so I think that helps. He's definitely turned into the favorite of my nephews, so his gentle nature finally overcame their fear of his size. He's the one they always ask about now.

Gull, however, because of that dark coloring, size and tendency to bark at people, if they approach from a distance without saying anything, is very intimidating. So pretty much all strangers are automatically scared of him. He's extremely sweet and friendly though. He's downright gregarious, if you talk to him and get close to him.

I hate it when people do that. Any dogs that are:-

    - Rotties
    - Dobermans
    - Staffies
    - black & tan dogs
    - German Shepherds
    - or any fighting breeds Akitas, Bull Terriers etc
    - large breeds of dog

I own a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel who is my first dog so it has never happaned to me but I know plenty of dog owners who have this problem. Why do people do this unless you terrified of ALL dogs!!!!!!!!!!

Oh yes of course, I mean the cocker spaniel is such a vicious dog! Poor Pepper never gets attention. Autumn has the sweet eyes going for her and is so well behaved that people either walk right up to her or walk right past her because she shows no interest in them when she's walking right by me.

Yup, they always back up or cross the street when they see Nicki. Which is just fine with us since we don't live in the greatest neighborhood. It gives us a little more protection. Bad guys don't need to know she's a big puppy dog.
