Rescue people, what so you do with your FeLV+ kitties??

These 2 sweeties were found dumped outside our shelter building. SWEET as they come!!! They were suppose to come here after being vetted. They are both a very strong FeLV+. We are no kill, that means they are not euthanized, but our shelter nor our foster homes are set up to care for FeLV+ cats.

What do YOU do when you have a cat test positive for FeLV??

meet poor Francine the calico and her brother Franklin.

OMG! They are SO CUTE! I sure hope a home can be found for them, where they can live peacefully and happily as long as possible!

Lets hope you can find a kittyless home that will take the two of them together. They are just adoreable! If I had NO cats at all, I would take only felv ones without hesitation.

I'm with Laura - if I had no cats I would take only those with FeLV or FIV.

There are people out there who do that - maybe there is someone in your area? Anyway to publicize them?

We had a stray here about 10 years ago - sweetest thing he was. He was FeLV and our Vet found him a home with a woman who only took in the positive ones.

There are at least a couple of people in our area who specialize in giveing a home to leukemia cats. But they, like ALL rescue people, are usually full to (and beyond) capacity. Hopefully there is a place for these sweet young ones.

Oh NO, Jen! I'm so sorry for those two precious little ones, and I hope you can find them a home. I haven't been able to afford testing with mine, and the adopters understand this ... thankfully no one has contacted me saying that one has been positive. Recently since my close rescue friend had 17 turn up positive at her home, I tested about 13 of mine the next day. Thank GOD they were all negative as well.

Oh Jen, those two wee ones are so darn adorable. The Calico has such beautiful markings.
Gosh, how I pray that they are able to find the right home.

    FeLV+ kitties

Poor little sweeties. Jen, I wish I could offer you some kind of answer here. Francine and Franklin are so cute, real little heart stealers! Maybe the best I can do for the babies and for you is to offer some prayers that someone willing to take them and love them comes along very soon. Please let us know what happens?

Oh...what precious babies! I truly hope and pray someone is able to take them in. And I want to echo what everyone else has said - I would gladly take them if I didn't have two already. These two definitely will be special to someone.

OMG! I can't stand it. They are so adorable! The calico is a dead ringer for my Puddy! I'm gonna pray really hard on this one, that you're able to find a home for them. This is heartbreaking.

    Blessings,

Due to the cost involved, I was only having my TNR cats tested if I was intent on bringing them into my home. Meeshe and Muskrat tested positive, so they co-habitated on my screened in front porch, apart from the in-house cats. The TNRs I have trapped mainly are feral, so are neutered/spayed and given a rabies vac (mandatory where I reside, which also adds to the cost) then released with a prayer for their health, happiness and longevity.

Jen, I have a friend who adopted a FeLV+ adult Siamese about a year ago from my vet clinic, so I can inquire if he is ready for 2 more. Not sure how far Allentown, PA is from the Jersey shore and whether it would be feasible, but it won't hurt to ask him if he may be interested in case they are still in need of a home.
