Moving with my Cat......... Problem, & I need help please!

Hey everyone I have a problem!!
I just moved back home from a horse ranch I useto work at, & I brought my barn cat home with me. She is used to being an "inside" cat, she did once use a litter box (I was seeing if she would for when I go to college).

I got her in the car, no problem.
I put her in a pet taxi, no problem.
I put her in my room, no problem.
She won't eat unless I'm there, little problem.

I put cat litter in her box....... she hasn't used it.......... she hides from the box.
SO, I put dirt in it (I put dirt in the other one because I didn't have any cat litter when I tried it), I put her in to so she knew it was there, she didn't jump out right away she pawed it once sniffed at it & then jumped out.

I live in the Texas Hill Country, I have 2 dogs & 3 other cats...... she hasn't met the dogs yet & only met two of the cats, I put the older cat in my room with her for a little while untill she rolled over & fell asleep. Thinking if she gets useto the older cat she'd stay with him.

I tried putting butter on her paw & letting her out side..... she just started to run off & I couldn't think what would happen if something happend to her & it would be my falt (when I first found her she was very scared of everything).

But when I brought her back in the house she ran back into my room. So she knew where that was..........

Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions on how to help my cat settle in her new home?

I brought her yesterday afternoon (thursday).

Please help me............ I'm not very good at the cat thing & she's the only cat thats ever adopted me. I mean look at my name, I haven't been on here in a year, almost. I'm a dog person, with ten thousand cats & one that loves me......... HEEEEEELLLLLLLLLLLLLPPPPPPPPPPPPPPP??????????????

    Thanks for listening/reading!

    Hello,

When I first got my cat, I put her in a room alone for a while, where it was quiet, so she could get used to her surroundings. I don't know what's average, but I would think that it would take at least a couple of days for her to get used to it.

When my grandmother died, my cat started acting REALLY strange.. she developed a habit of using the laundry basket for a potty! I went to the vet for advice, and they told me that Bassett was angry that changes had taken place in the house, and she was letting me know that she was displeased. Then she told me that when cats act this way, they recomment an antidepressant. I was desperate, so I said ok. She took it for only two weeks, and she was so much better and happier. Now she is all back to normal.

Anyway, to make a long story short, I would recommend letting her stay quietly by herself for a couple days, and if she doesn't improve, phone the vet and get some kitty advice. It seemed to help my kitty

It's only been a couple of days? I don't think there is anything to worry about yet- too soon. Give it a few more, and if there is still a problem, call the vet.

About 4 years ago, when my husband and I moved, it took one of my cats a FEW WEEKS to adjust. For the first few days he did not eat or use the litter box. He did eventually when he got hungry enough.
He was upset though for a good 3-4 weeks, and two times did his duties on the bed instead of the box (Natures Miracle works awesome!)

It will all work out eventually, I am sure!
    Good Luck

I think it is too soon, also. Just give her some time and some privacy. She'll come around, I'm sure!!

How are you and the cat getting on now? Any improvement?
