    Is this normal?

As lot of you know Beenie was spayed about Oct. 27th.
I noticed a lump (actually 3 lumps) along her incision. I took her to the vet Friday to have them look at it. I don't know who looked at it (my hubby went to the vet because I had to work) and they said it was a pimple.
It does not look like a pimple to me.
She has 3 very hard lumps. Anyone had a similar experience.
I will post pics in a bit.
Let me know if this is normal.

Here are the pictures. Not very good quality.

It is really hard to see the details in the pictures. From what I can see & what you are describing it could be a few different things.
It could be some scar tissue or an irritation from where the clamps were. Or it could be scar tissue/irratation from the sutures IF the sutures were off to the side a little. Some vets & doctors do sutures differently. It could also just be an irratation from the the supplies they used, latex, disinfectants, etc....
Did she lick the area at all? Maybe that caused it?

It might not be related to the spaying either, it could just be an irration she developed from something else.

It could also be a cyst???

I don't know if they happened to have sutures there, or the clamps punctured her skin or the like or what but one of my own surgeries that I had, they had accidently sutured wrong or closed me up wrong, they did something wrong, but I have these 2 pimple like things that come & go, they think a hair folicle or two was distrupted which sometimes causes an ingrown hair or a pimple.

I'd say as long as it doesn't get worse I'd just keep an eye on it. If it doesn't go away within a couple weeks I'd take her back to have it looked at again, maybe aspirated to see exactly what it is.

Autumn had a lump after her spay too. It was right on the incision line. I was told its common and will go away in a week or so and it did. Just keep an eye on the bumps and hopefully they will be gone soon.

I don't remember Lacey having anything like that, but it's been awhile since she was spayed. I hope whatever it is goes away soon.

Hi Beeniesmom! Its been a while since we have been in touch!

I would definitely keep an eye on the lumps. While they could be a pimple, they could also be a number of other things. Do the lumps bother her? There is a possibility she could have a hernia where she was spayed. It could also be a cyst. Sometimes dogs do develop lumps after surgery and they are nothing to worry about, especially if Beenie is unbothered by them. I would say that if they have not gone away by next week or continue to worry you, consult another vet. Its better to be safe than sorry.

    Best wishes.

    Thank you HollywoodNVegas.
I am taking her to the vet again in half an hour (11 am appointment).
I really need to hear it again from them that she is doing fine.
The lumps look bigger and are harder today.
She now has 3 of them, under the skin.

    Just got back.
The vet said that Beenie is having a reaction to the internal stiches.
She said that if the lumps didn't start to go down in a month, they will have to open her again.

Oh goodness no, I hope they don't have to open her back up again. We're sending Beenies lumps tons of "go away by yourself" thoughts.
