    R.I.P. Buff Wuff

Recently lost one of my dogs, Buff Wuff. I still cry everyday, lol. To the point one of my friends told me "Kel, you're taking this way too hard--it was just a dog!"...Needless to say, wrote HER off the Christmas card list forever....LOL.

Buff Wuff was a sweet little dog. Never saw such a happy dog, always had a smile and lick for everyone. Shelter dog I adopted 3 years ago, when she was 8 or so. Had numerous health problems (heart murmur, tumor in mouth, fleshy tumor near heart, arthritis). Buff was a cocker/collie mix.

She was "little sister" to my 4 year old aussie shep/spaniel mix, Britty. Britty was also a shelter dog I got 3 years ago. We got Buff as I felt Britty needed a friend. Turned out to be best buddies.

Buff died from a cold. Ironically, I had just spent a month nursing Britty back to health. Britty had viral infection, severe dehyrdation and liver failure. Had to do IV treatments at home twice a day; 6 pills a day; monitor her water intake, hand-feed her rice and babyfood, weekly vet visits. Even slept with her (I still smell like dog blanket). For FOUR WEEKS.

Then, Buff starts coughing. Took her to vet and got 'scripts for doggy cold. Both dogs on totally different prescription times; one wouldn't drink water and one wanted to gulp water. Slept on floor with Buff in case she started to choke while coughing. Hand-fed her. Just when both dogs appear to be doing great, Britty recovering wonderfully (to the amazement of the vet)...Buff Wuff's cough was much better..... then during one night, Buff died.

This is my first time to this site and just thought I'd share. Thanx.

    RIP Buff Wuff

    Welcome to Pet Talk, Kelli

Absolutely right , they are never"just" dogs or cats. Sorry you joined us on such a sad note. I liked the pic of your dogs, I'm thinking Buff was the one on the floor, the dark one? Right? They're both gorgeous anyway. If you don't know it already, check out one of Pet Talks very special links :
    www.indigo.org/rainbowbridge_ver2.html

You are a very dedicated and special person and both your doggies know it. I hope you find consolation having a peek at the Rainbow Bridge but you can't visit it properly until it's time (you know). Buff Wuff will be there waiting for you, meanwhile he is playing and dozing in the sun, he has no cough or illness, he is well fed and happy except he is missing you but he knows you will be together again one day so he's just making the most of the sunshine and flowers and new friends meantime.

It's important to grieve. It's part of loving and living, and it's very healing to cry. Take care.

    Thank You

No, Buff is the little white/buff dog on couch. Britty, her big sister is on the floor. And yes, they ALWAYS have such happy doggy faces!

Thank's for the greetings and condolences.

    Talking

My parakeet just died a two months ago. I know its not like a dog but he was such a sweety. The happiest one in the world! He actually used to nuzzle me. I sometimes cry about him too. And you did the right thing by taking your friend that said that off your chrismas card list. A Dogs love lasts forever. They are special. They don't tell secrets or make fun of you. I am very sorry for your loss. VERY! ~ Maltese
