friends cat peeing on the bed

I have been asked to post this on behalf of a friend called Martin he has a 8 month old kitten called Annie and in the last month she has had a pee on the bed twice.
So if anyone has a suggestion please help!

Tell your friend he needs to take her kitty to the vet to rule out a Urinary Tract Infection, as inappropriate urinating is a sign there may be something wrong. If the kitty gets a clean bill of health by the vet, tell him to close his kitty in a spare room with the litterbox, food and water for 24-48 hours. The kitten should get the idea.

Is the cat spayed? If not, he should definitely get her spayed as she is in that age bracket where she'll go into heat. If she gets out, he'll have kittens to find homes for.
