New Dawn pictures

I've been promising Pops for awhile to get some Dawn pictures posted. I have a "new" camera (actually lightly used), and I'm learning how to use it. I was experimenting today and liked how some of them came out. These are cropped all different sizes, I was mostly messing around and by the time I realized I wanted to post these, I didn't want to go back and fix them all to a uniform size, so you'll have to bear with me! She still looks a little raggedy from her recent molt Hope you enjoy!

What a beauty I noticed she has a "bracelet" on her foot. Whats that for?

.Powerful, leg rings are used by breeders to keep track of the clutch number and is the birdie equivalent of a dog's registration with the AKC or similar kennel club. Breeders use either the metal ring which includes the bird's birthdate and location, but others use colored plastic rings just for identification (i.e. Red= male, Blue= female, or they color their clutches if the birds they're using are going to be kept in large aviaries).

I couldn't help but notice the zebra print in the first shot. What is that on? furniture? a pillow? It's so cute!!

I love the shots with the sun streaming through her crest. The detail is amazing - you can easily see the individual barbs of her crest feathers!

Kate, that's a little pillow I made a couple years ago. It has elephants, lions, and then the little zebras along the edges. I just loved the material and we have a dark green chair that it matched perfectly so I made a little cushion/pillow of it!

gosh soo pretty little one! how so colorful a creature can be. I love the one of dawn & tasha, definitely.. this site is already the greatest, created by your and others animals how everyone could get along.

Dawn is beautiful, Jess! I haven't seen her for so long and forgot how pretty she is. She really does have beautiful markings. So you got the new camera! I'm so happy for you. Is this the Olympus that you told me about? How are you liking it so far? The pictures look great! How do you like the zoom? I can't wait to see more pictures.
