Two new additions! -lots of pics!-

They're finally home! We brought home two gorgeous Tiels today. One is a grey tiel named Noah. The cinnamon tiel is still without a name. Once I find out if it's a boy or a girl, I'll pick a name. I've decided on Allie if it's a girl, and Fin if it's a boy (all names from "The Notebook".. my favorite movie ).

This is the one without a name. It's about 6 months old.

This is Noah. He's about a year and a half.

    More coming

    Both birdies

    My sister

    Both birdies in their cage

Their massive cage. I spent much more on the cage than I did on them.

By the way, someone asked me if I would take their Tiels. I still have to think about it a lot but how many tiels do you think would comfortably fit in that cage?

OMG They're adorable!!! Where'd you get them from? Gorgeous tiels!!! Are they hand-tame? Were they hand fed? *swoons* I wub them!

How large is the cage? Just from guesstimating, I think that cage is only sufficient for two tiels. It looks quite large, so I suppose you could cram a third tiel in there, but you'd have to let the birds out frequently. Unlike Budgies and Finches, Tiels are generally not flappers/hoppers and don't require a lot of flying space (they make your bedroom their flying space ).

Edit: I researched budgie mutations awhile back and dabbled in cockatiel mutations. From my limited knowledge, Cinnamon only dilutes the gray, but does not affect other melanin. So, from the Cinnie's pictures, I'd say you've got youself an Allie

Thanks. I got them from a pet store. I normally don't like going to pet stores for pets but I've been in the store before and the owner takes awesome care of his animals. The guy gave me a great deal too! $149 (after tax) for the two of them. Not bad for two hand-fed birdies.

    The cage measurements are 27"Wx23"Dx66"H

Yup, 2-3 Tiels per that cage sounds right. I don't despise pet stores, but it looks like you chose a reputable one! There are very few pet stores which sell actual hand-tame/hand-fed birds I agree, the Cinnie is gorgeous!

How ADORABLE! Congrats on the two new additions to your family! Tiels are very special birds...very. The first one actually looks much younger than 6 months. He/she looks like a baby...with brand new feathers. I would think he/she is more like 2 - 3 months. Very cute! What are you feeding them?

I saw that, too. She lookes like a 3-4 month weanling, but it sounds like she's keeping her own crop filled nicely. At least I'd hope so

The little one does look real young, but I don't have much experience in birds. They are adorable. I'd have given Noah a name from the Godfather, he just looks like he's a well-fed mafia boy. Cheeky little camera hogs already I see!
