    Controversial Exhibit in Tampa

Lizbud's thread made me think of this. I, myself, think this is fascinating. However, I don't know if it's going to be shut down or not. I'd love to go see it before it/or if it does. Here's a link to a news article. The exhibit is at MOSI

I did the right thing by setting you free
But the pain is very deep.
If only I could turn back time, forever, you I'd keep.
    I miss you

I hear you whimper in your sleep
I gently pet you and say, no bad dreams
It will be alright, to my dog as dark as night.

Val, it's drawing such large crowds, I think it'll be open for a while. My friend from work went and said it was really cool. I myself want to go, but money permitting I don't know if I will get to. Dead bodies don't scare me given my line of work, so this would be super neat to see the inside, all the muscles and such.

If you decide you can go, we should meet there. I wonder if they let you take pics? I'm thinking probably not. Things like this have never bothered me, either. Now someone puking, that's a totally different story.

I'm thinking pics will be a no-no. I am really not sure if I will go due to money being tight, but I will see.

Oh, that sounds awesome! I mean, it might be a little creepy at first, but I find mummies just exhilarating. This shouldn't be *much* different

I don't think King Tut is wrapped up anymore, is he? The mummies I've seen were unwrapped, if I remember right...

They're also different because the skin is removed. You can see all the muscles, veins, etc.

I have always been fascinated by forensics, anatomy and physiology. When I was going through my paramedics class, we went to the UConn Medical School and saw cadavers. Some had been there for quite some time. I actually saw a spinal cord, which looks like a whole bunch of fishing lines together.

I'd LOVE to go see the exhibit. Too bad it's so far away.

It may come up near you. It's a tour and is just here for a while. I think six months but not sure.

Since when does the FL board of medicine and the AG's office care about art??

Are they afraid that people may find out where THEY have some bodies hidden.

I can see their point but don't you think that it's a cool thing to have you immortalized that way???

I think I do know the reason that they the BOM and AG's office are against it...

The cadavers have more brains than they do.

I dropped out of Medical Technology classes because I found
out I couldn't take the sight of blood. I really like reading about
the human body, just prefer to see them with their skin on.
